That's kinda what I thought too, but the way he talks sounds like he's getting it fixed. *shrug*

GM uses the uni-body design. If his frame were to be bent in anyway, the roof panels would have bent or crumpled in certain spots. and from what i can tell, his car did its job perfectly in the crash,it crumpled up as to absorb energy and cause him no injurys.

Frame is not bent because the bumper of the truck went into the hood and did not touch his bumper. The air bags did not go off because the bumper of the truck did not make direct contact with the air bag sensor on the front bumper.

Same thing happened to me in that my airbags did not go off when I hit a deer with my Matrix at 120km/h. $15,000 in damage later it was all fixed. My frame was not wrecked at all, same with the engine or suspension. It was all cosmetic damage. Here is a couple of pics:

Glad to see that you are ok bro! That is all that counts here. The car can be fixed or replaced.

Dude look at the second pic... he obviosly got hit in the bumper.. theres like a trailer ball hitch mark.. trust me i have one on my car... it went through my plate in the front... theres a chance that the frame could have been bent..

With VERY few exceptions, when you rear end someone, you are ALWAYS at fault.

Was he legal? I ****** hate it when that happens. If you can't speak at least enough basic English to communicate in a situation like this - GTFO. What would have happened had you been seriously hurt? How the **** would he have gotten help? Would he have run and then left you there. I seriously hate that ****.

I find it hard to believe that they'd hire any cops in Punta Gorda without at least some basic spanish speaking ability. More than likely they had something with them they didn't want any cops to find, weapons, drugs, or whatever. Who knows, maybe the driver of the truck probably hit his brakes because he dropped a big fatty in his lap.
