ECM remapping, good or a waste?
While I agree with you guys that a well done tune would be the best there still is an alternative.....I just got back from driving after installing the Jet Performance Module -- and it is a performance upgrade. The first thing I noticed after firing up the Cobalt in the garage was that it is running richer -- fumes are richer than without the Jet Module. The seat-of-the-pants difference isn't earth-shattering, but the wheel spin (auto) is greater, to begin with, and the throttle response feels and sounds quicker.
It's an alternative if tuning is not available to you.

How much is that Jet performance thing anyway? Isn't it like $250 or something?
Sure, come on over. It works and that's all that matters. If you want to fly across country on your dime to prove it more "power" to you. like I said, it's an alternative to people like me that don't have anybody to tune my car.....and just as important, I can just unplug it if there is a problem. JEGS, $239.

After installing the Jet module and running the car in the garage (yes, door open) the difference in smell is considerable -- definitely richer!
I don't want to argue this issue -- if you can get a tune do so. I can't -- and don't know anybody around me that can tune. There are some Corvette tuners local but they don't want to mess with a 4-banger they know nothing about.

BTW...if I "buy" a tune from you will I be able to remove it and sell it to someone else

Jet =
The Jet module is tangible -- not just labor -- and I could get some moolah for it if I trade in or sell the car. A very big point.

Okay, you win. Do what you want. I could personally care less.
Again it is an alternative. Truth is I don't know you but you want me to trust you to "tune" my ECM? What happens if the ECM goes out and GM refuses to warranty it -- will you provide the new programming if I end up buying a new one? There are many pros and cons to everything on this car. I have used and been involved with car owners that used Jet Proms on 86/87 GNs and 86/87 T-Types in 1987 and 1988 and those cars were fast with the Jet proms! Jet Chip is not a fly-by-night company either. The more I drive my Cobalt the better it feels. I am pleased with Jet module!
Jet is a good company. Im shure the piggy back device is great ... However with a piggy back device you can't make as drastic of a change as you can with an ECU reflash the Jet chip only changes a limited number of peramiters. Where as with the VMS tune if your auto you can change shift points and when the TC engagues lean out your fuel for better fuel economy and change the bog time with the vvt.
