Estimated HP gains!

Hey fellow SS guys, my next mods will include the xtc downpide 2.5 inch with no cat and a cobalt addiction 4 in one header. After looking at my current mods in my signature what is your estimated hp gain from the downpipe and header. I feel I already got roughly a 16 hp gain from my injen cai and dc spotrs catback. I think I should definitely be pushing 200+hp after my downpipe and header are installed. What are your thoughts? I believe I will gain about 15 more hp from the downpipe and header.

I know man but I think I will be close or over 200hp with a cai, catback, downpipe and header. Our cars are rated 171hp stock, I think my mods will give me at least 30 hp!

My guess, 160ish to the wheels. You had 170'ish stock at the FLYWHEEL, take into account at LEAST a 15% drivetrain loss (although GM says it's 17) you're looking at 145ish at the wheels. Youre mods might give you around 15ish maybe. once again, just complete ricer math guess, but I'll say 160

I'm guessing about 152 WHP.

We'll say 170 to the crank, pull off about 10% for drivetrain loss. That becomes 153.9 WHP.
Then add maybe 6 for the CAI, and 10 for the exhaust work.

So, being really generous on the drivetrain loss that would be approx 170 WHP. But I think my above guess would be more along the lines of actual WHP.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say.....390 WHP!

Hey wishful thinking doubles your HP to the wheels.

i very highly doubt you'll get 30 hp from those mods... and how can you "feel" a 16 hp gain?

I made 140whp with CAI and full exhaust, so you should definately be at 160+ with the same mods.

I consider 'full exhaust' to be exactly what he listed. Everything from the block back. In that case, he should be expecting 140 to the wheels just like you, right? What do you consider full exhaust? Also, what does he have that you don't that will net him 20 whp over?

well, considering his mods are listed as header, downpipe, and catback, i would say that would equal a full exhaust

I didn't look for that, good point. So is that the difference?

How can you tell what type of engine someone has vs. another person?

How do you know that though? If 170ish is crank hp, when you remove drivetrain loss you can very esaily come away with 140 WHP.

I don't have it in my sig like some other people, but if its not in the sig you can check in a person's public profile. Most of the time its in there.

So what size engine then? 2.2 or 2.4?

Yeah, its a base balt. I forgot that I didn't have it in my sig.

If I'm not mistaken though, I don't think they ever made the 2.4 in Blue Granite.

That seems like a lot of work to find out something though. In that case I could see about 160 WHP with that stuff done. That's what I though at first before we got sidetracked. Still nowhere near the 200 WHP this guy was thinking though.
