Full CAI VS. SRI

Is there a difference in performance or sound with CAI vs. SRI? And how do GMAPP's compare to others?

first off its gmpp....to expensive

cai in usually down in the engine bay usually sucking up air from underneath the car

sri sits on top pretty much and sucks all the air up around the motor

sri MIGHT give u 2 or 3 more hp but in all honesty theyre pretty much the same thing

Yes there is a big difference, when I got my Injen I first installed it as a SRI I saw Intake Air Temps that were ~15* above ambient air temperature, and ~10* over the stock air box.

Changed it over to the CAI, IAT dropped back down to ~2-3* above ambient, and the same or lower then the stock air box.

Yes, you will get a slight increase in sound volume going SRI over CAI, but Performance > Sound IMO

Now, I cannot speak for the GMPP IAT's as it does have a shield in the engine bay which I'm sure blocks some heat where the Injen does not, but I personally would go with a CAI over the GMPP

i cant agree with you anymore.. even switching you notice the difference right away.. imo..

you guys do know the GMPP is not SRI its a CAI, the Box where the filter sits is sealed by the hood. the air is drawn via the stock pipeing from the fender wall. so the GMPP is a CAI

the GMPP is not quite at all, its very loud and u can def feel the power added even tho its prob only like 2-3 hp

but u must keep in mind most CAI intakes have much longe paths and many more bends which hurts performance

or get the injen intake which is a CAI that can be converted to SRI so you can try out both on ur own

CAI i blieve would give you more power but not very much. the cooler the air is the more dense it is there for meaning more air which means more power correct me if im wrong guys.

When you're driving down the road, SRI intakes do not suck in hot air......they get the cold air that comes out of the fender well. I've tested this on my K&N SRI (with heatshield) with my MSD Dashhawk.....at idle, while not moving, the air temp will rise quite significantly......BUT while the car is moving, the IAT drops way down to the ambient air temperature.......so a CAI would have no advantage while the car is moving (and that's all that really matters).

...I disagree, I saw IAT's 15* above ambiant while moving using a SRI Injen

I don't care if you disagree.......I'm telling you what I saw on my Dashhawk with my K&N SRI..........maybe the Injen really sucks as an SRI and is only good as CAI.

well k&n has that plastic heat shield, im sure that helps with the heat a bit, but hell when i had my GMPP i would touch the shield and it would be hot, hell touching the aluminum piping from the GMPP was hot too, remember that the air might come in at a certain tempature but the piping is hotter closer to the engine..meaning it will heat up, personally wether you go short or cold, the intake wont make that much of a diffrence, only good for 2-3 ponies in our cars
