gm touring exhaust question

I have searched about this so try not to tear into me, but i here you get like a 1 hp gain with the gm touring exhaust, and ive also heard you get 12 on the supercharged but i have the sport model 2.4, i was wondering if u can actually notice a performance difference other than the sound once you put it on, thanks for any feedback

You will get much more than 1hp.

You are not going to gain a ton of hp from a catback on a stock engine.......it's mainly for a different sound.

you do know the GMPP Touring and GMPP Performance are the same as far flow and Hp, the touring is just not as loud.

I have the GMPP Touring along with the GMPP CAI, i def felt the differnce after adding the Touring, I mostly felt it on the high way and in the upper RPMs.

sort of true, you will get gains, nothing huge tho. But as far as which cat back gives you the most HP, they all do about the same, just all produce dif sound. so pick which one you like the best. Cat backs work well with Intakes and other bolt on, its not about indv gains, but the sum of of all the parts.

QFT... He speaks teh truth and I agree. Except I felt really good gains down low with my car. My launches are much better then the stock exhaust allowed. Anything more then GMPP isn't really necessary for a 2.4 cobalt.

those guys have tested it on a 2.4 (not comparable to a supercharged engine) and they gained 1.2WHP and 1.3WTQ.
So it's mainly for sound for an NA engine... change ur downpipe and you will get much better gains.

Touring vs Performance makes no difference but the sound.
Some guys on www.CobaltSSQuebec.com have dyno tested a GMPP catback with the performance mufler, and the stock OEM mufler on the GMPP catback. Result: less gains with the GMPP performance mufler...
So you're better off with the OEM muffler on a GMPP catback

Although what you say here is true, there comes an issue. If you change just the Dp and stick with the stock exhaust you won't see much higher gains. So if your doing it for power, you might as well do the manifold, Dp, and catback as you will find a lack of improvement by doing individual upgrades. But still, the better exhaust does give improvement thru out the rpm range.

That is a supercharged application. Don't bring that here cause different engines and cars react differently to mods. We don't know if the 2.4 would do the same thing.

good link, but like i said the cat back is not a stand alone mod, its just one of the parts even the link states thats
Not all improvements are dyno-measurable, however, as the GMPP exhaust enhances sound, improves appearance, and gets us ready for flow needs we'll be growing into big time in an upcoming issue
great link tho, i think it def feels like more, but then again i have the CAI also.
good find bro

no thats not why its bc they barely help an LE5 and it is not worth the money to gain 2 or 3 whp thats why

this statment alone defines rice, sure cat backs dont give huge gains alone, but they are needed for the bigger picture and any hoot 2- 3 whp is a good gain for 2.4 inline 4. Plus they sound great and look bad ass...
