CED is the place to go... if you want the cheaper exhaust by it now before stock runs out and they raise prices

Nah maybe the honed manifold which is the biggest waste of 300 dollars EVER.

I would highly suggest against it.

At least get the CA short header

It is as simple as loosening up the coolant hose and rotating it dude.

The GMPP fits great but I will give you my stock mani and hone it out for 100 bux cheaper than GM.

30-35 CFM gain...what a joke

Funny Sean, that the Cobalt Addiction header and XTC DP fit the Ion with no promblem and it was made for the coablt.

Oh yeah Sean are you still getting the random CEL every once in a while?

It really is not, all it is is the stock manifold honed out to increase flow alittle. and I do mean alittle lol.

i was also looking into a header and a downpipe for my g5 gt and i was wondering which way to go. i was planning on the ca header and xtc downpipe but if it is just going to cause problems then maybe i should go zzp. pretty much i want good gains with the least amount of problems(im sure everyone does). so for u guys that have already got them what do u think? there is the option if gmpp but it doesnt seem worth it for the honed header and there is no gmpp downpipe.

i've asked the same questions and everyone told me to go with the zzp combo or ca so i think thats probably the best route to go.

I'm not convinced that a header gives you enough HP gain over the GMPP Ext-Honed Manifold to warrant the higher priced header either. I look at the fact that the LSJ engine makes 205-240 HP (stock to stage 2) with the GMPP Ext-Honed manifold -- so a 2.4 pushing the full 171-173 HP probably has no need for much more. Certainly the LSJ pushes more air through it's exhaust system then the LE5 does.

so the gmpp should be good for what i am going to be doing with my 2.4 i/h/e. with going with the gmpp that would leave the xtc downpipe with the highflow cat because i havent found any other well any other that would be good for the 2.4. how do u guys like the xtc downpipe? noticeable gains? there shouldnt be any problems since i am gettin the catted downpipe as far as cels correct?

The GMPP header is a waste of money.

It is garbage.

There I said it very very bluntly.

There is also a reason CA advertises a 10whp gain from their header on a bone stock LE5 SS.

Seriously

hmm interesting well i was planning on going the ca route in the begginning but if i would get the gmpp if it gave close to the same results plus it would keep warranty on the exhaust manifold. if the ca header and xtc downpipe give the best gains and there arent any problems with them as far as fittting or cels then that is the route i will take. have u guys had any problems with cobalt addiction as far as shipping and whatnot because i have read posts im not sure if it was on here or g5club.net but some people say that have had some issues with getting there stuff.

I had no issues getting my stuff. But are cars most of the time will throw a CEL with a high flow cat because it is flowing just that much more air then the stock cat.

well that sux but the only time that would be a problem is when u have to get it inspected what do u do then? or is there a way to not get a cel, ive heard that u should unhook the battery when installing performance parts would that help not get one or are u screwed either way.
