Hahn / Supercharger Swap

I thought I had my mind made, and all the SC swap parts are in my buddies possession. But after lookin at the numbers and possibilities with the Hahn Turbo kit for my 2.4L Im guessing now... So ill leave it up to the big boys to give me some guidance.

Edit: Just vote your oppinion, dont give a reason.

Honestly, this is an ever going project (or until i get tired of doing it and sell the car) so id say at the current time, around 300 at the crank would be good, and i plan on doing internals next year.

best way to go if your going to keep adding on is turbo IMO, with a supercharger you are held back by heat and pulley sizes/belts etc.

What and Why?

Those are questions no one should and can answer for you logically.

What you should do is weight the pros and cons of each fully. Evaluate it, then make a whole hearted decision.

Cause really, I've been on forums a long time...threads like this don't help you make a decision, it just raises a post count for people saying "Turbos are better, go that way!" or "Supercharge it man!". Might even start a argument or two...especially when people say stuff like "Supercharge it cause turbos have lag, y0!" lol

It happens.

Like I said, do some good research on how everything works, installation, maintenance, pricing etc. Figure out if you can handle one over the other or hell, if you can handle a forced induction setup in general.

Buy some books. Educate yourself.

The Hahn kit does include the tuning so it should be much more reliable than a do-it-yourself supercharger swap. Plus the turbo kit is going to put you very close to your 300HP goal.

If my wife is still happy with her van ( 02 ) Im getting a Camero if she gets a new car I"m
getting the Hahn turbo IMO there is no comparison , the SC eats up too much torque and hopefully Hahn Racecraft will come out with stage three soon . My two cents .

You already know how I feel. 250whp is possible with a stock pulley on the 2.4 with basic bolt on's, and no internal work. If you have ever driven a 250whp FWD car, you would soon find that for a daily driver it's more than enough! I find 225whp pretty rediculous already. The torque steer is scary at times.

From personal opinion, my 2.4 is handling the 244wtq very well and i always feel in control and I am actually gonna be working with hahn next season to up my power a slight bit in small increments, I just need a boost controller. The supercharger thing is ok but not for max power imo. I would say if you are looking to be very competetive with your 2.4 then hahn would be the way to go. if you just want some extra kick for not so much money then the supercharging would be fine. You have to know what you want before you decide. To me supercharging was never an option...

With the short gears on the 2.4 I can chirp 2nd and get some fierce torque steer in 3rd...IMHO a turbo being pushed to the point where a turbo would be better than a SC making power would mean you would be wheel hopping every where ...sounds to me like you are second guessing yourself.

Just do it......you had the ***** to buy the SC stuff...go with it and run just be careful with it

Price vs. price go with the supercharger. If you have some extra green go with the turbo. less headaches with the turbo kit, since its actually a 'kit'. I'm dropping my pulley down to a 3" with some 60's i'll letcha know how that turns out. I'm aiming for 280+whp with a full bolt ons, 3.0 and 60's

regardless, if you're driving a manual prepare to upgrade the clutch

Our 2.4's are rev happy. Depending on where you are at in the powerband you might not spin them in the beginning of 2nd but towards the end the tires will lose traction. But, it's also completely possible to roast them into second . I can get a mean bark into third too.

yeah based off of just the quality of swapping/bolting on i would go with the Hahn turbo kit.
