Help please. LSJ supercharger kit on 2.4L

Hey there

so I'm fairly new at this so please be patient with me....i ordered a used setup of a friend, his LSJ was rear ended....so he' selling me injectors, Harness, sensors, manifold, cold air, supercharger, IC pump, brackets, secondary coolant reservoir, heat exchanger, throttle body etc.....im wondering what I can do to add more to it? I will send my ECU and TCM out to get a tune done.

would a LSJ s3 heat exchanger give me a bit more power?

what is the smallest pulley I can run on stock internals and zzp tune? Keep in mind the highest octane we have which is premium here that every gas station has is 91 octane.

idealling I'd like to be 10-15lbs of boost maybe....and 250-275whp. Not sure if I'm shooting for the stars here or not but this is the best place to ask.

your shooting pretty high there, especially through an auto. i think 250hp is probably the high end of what your safe doing with stock internals. id start with a 3.0" pulley and go from there.

What year is your LE5? Makes a difference. 08 internals are pretty weak and will have issues below a 3.1 pulley. I would get some better pistons and open up the ring end gap so you can have some fun with it without breaking ring lands.

If it’s an 06 you’re fine until 400ish even on the auto trans. Do a 2.7 pulley, full exhaust, ls4 throttle body. You won’t get 270whp on regular gas with a basic bolt ons. You will need e85 to get close. I did 271whp with my auto 2.4 with a 2.7 pulley, 2.25 exhaust, midlength header, 2.5 catless downpipe, 3in intake, lsj throttle body and e85 tune. A heat exchanger isn’t going to give you power either.

I did 260whp 270wtq 93oct
S256 Turbo 10psi stock internals at the moment. 2007 manual though. And tune needs little more tunning.
At 17psi valve floats.
Lnf muffler, catless dp, stock resonator, cti over the axle piping. 39lbs injectors.

I have zero psi now lol hoping to get some soon....its a 2007 Sedan. so another question is the setup my friend is sending me is a 6 rib belt drive and my LE5 is a 5 rib....he is sending me the Belt tensioner, harmonic balancer, a.c. compressor, alternator, and idler pulley. Will that all work to convert to 6 rib on a LE5?

Im sure with the idler pulley he is also including the idler pulley mount bracket so that should be all you need. Basically you are swapping every belt driven component from 5-rib to 6-rib. I'm not sure if the 2.4's have the clearance issue between the tensioner pulley and the block or not. If you do you just have to grind the block down a bit where it interferes.

Yes that will work. I did the swap also. You just have to change every part the belt touches

You should still have the better rods but the lost foam cast block and tight ring end gaps will limit you from getting to carried away. You're definitely not going to push it where you want but as long as the failures are limited to broken ring lands you can step it up after that happens. As soon as I hit 10 psi my pistons started failing. I'm above 6000' elevation so I would be seeing closer to 13psi at sea level.

If you want to eventually push it harder be pro active and get some better pistons. It's more fun running an overbuilt engine hard knowing your safe.

If he has early 2007 he’s fine up to 400 or so. Later 07 got the 08 internals

2007 cobalt SS 2.4L N/A Auto

Id' like to stay away from e85...i haven't really seen many stations in Ottawa anymore that have ethonal....so with the lsj setup, 6 rib components, LSJ s3 heat exchanger, LSJ throttle body 60lbs injectors, dual pass endplate, stock exhaust (for now, I will go catless downpipe, header, and exhaust in a month or so), good tune by ZZP (any other recommendations where you send a computer and tcm to be tuned), 3" ZZP cai...and option b kit....everything else stock....what size pulley should I buy? Some say 2.6...others stock....others 2.9. I will be running premium fuel 91 octane

The ZZP tune is generic.
Find someone with an HPTuner setup.
I could send your tuner my files but they may need adjusting for your elevation.
I wouldn't go below a 3.1 depending how many miles are on your engine.

I started breaking those crappy 08 ring lands at 2.8. Ring gap is too tight.

I was making 10 PSI at 6000'ASL. You will make close to 13 or just under.
I was ok at 8psi all day. Zero knock and a dialed in A/F.
