High Milage LE5

So the other day heading to work i hit 91,000 miles. i was curious how many other LE5's are over the 90K mark or even over the 100K mark. i havent had any issues with my 2.4 at all.

i bought the car on Nov. 11 2007 it had 24,582 miles.

its a 2006 Cobalt SS 2.4 (obviously) 5Spd.

I've had a few annoying issues with my LE5. I'm at 56K miles.

1. Steering Collum Replaced
2. Coolant Sensor Failure
3. Thermostat Failure
4. Broken Automatic Shifter
5. Warped Rear Rotors
6. Car wants to stall/bogs randomly at red lights (GM can't figure it out)
7. Rear brakes continue to squeek when cold in reverse (GM can't figure it out)
8. Magnaflow exhaust leak (Flange won't sit flush)

110000 today on my 06. Syncro went on tranny at maybe 50,000 and that was it. replaced clutch at 93,000 earlier this year and the clutch could have kept going. I just have injen intake and exhaust.

the only issue there that is actually related to the LE5 motor is #6, the rest can happen to any auto cobalt...

Same with others mentioning tranny issues, thats not LE5 specific

6. Car wants to stall/bogs randomly at red lights (GM can't figure it out)

I thought I was alone, the techs couldnt figure this out either, they said it was engine misfires, but it only randomly happens when stopped at red lights

im at 67k and my car has only had issues due to pot hole damage (replaced struts, steering column, tire balances, alignment etc..)

No I have not yet. I had the TB cleaned and it fixed it temporarily. I find it interesting that I'm not alone with that issue. I dont find it major. Just annoying as hell

I'm on brand new spark plugs and TB cleaned relatively recently. I'm not entirely sure how or what could be causing misfires like this

ahem, he said MassAirFlow not TB.

the maf is that annoying piece of plastic shoved into your intake tube. it could be that.

i actually didnt think of that. i did clean the tb.

who ever said MAF had a good idea. ima check on that when i finally get my car back from the shop. its been there for a month for some minor body work, and now it won't start. lol

currently at 169000km on mine.
stock clutch was replaced at 160000 due to the fact that I turbo'd the car. clutch still had life left and no blue spots.
no real expensive fixes, actaully no fixes that were not warrenty. car has been great.

Yeah I was just saying that my throttle body was cleaned not too long ago. A dirty TB can do this as well. Next I'm gonna check my MAF. Here's the silly question though. How would you clean it?

Carefully un-clip wiring harness, remove two screws holding MAF in place, and pull out of intake tract in a straight line.

Then get a can of this http://www.autobarn.net/maairflsecl1...te=google_base and spray MAF, install is the reverse of removal, just don't drop, hit, smack, ping, ding, smash, or look at your MAF too hard, they are very sensitive.

You can get the spray from your local Autozone or Advance, just make sure it is for MAFs.

I have an 06 Ion 2.4. Just rollin over on 50k this week sometime. Mine has been absolute crap since I bought it. Mostly Saturn crap like rattling windows and my pass window actuator breaking the first day out of warranty. my big thing is that it is a 5-speed and when i push in the clutch, it races the engines, sometimes 500rpm, sometimes 4k. It then knocks out my cruise control and I have to literally gas it, put it in neutral and wait several seconds before shifting to the next gear. I bought a new TB and replaced it. I wanna boost and tune it but I'm not gonna drop any money into it like this. You guys have any clues what it might be? Saturn SE in Ohio had no clue, but took a guess at the TB or the BCU.

i had an issue with cruise control.. you need to look at the clutch pedal sensor they're very touchy.. mine was replaced like 4 times ... when that happens the throttle does weird things..

are you throwing any CELs?
