HP Tuned 2.4
What'd you guys pay for this tune and what'd you do to the car? Shift points and stuff? I have an auto too, and next summer I'm gonna try to get the header/dp/cat and run a tune.. Already got the intake and catback..
only pro to dyno tuning is u can see your powerband graph and you get consistent runs on a dyno, this is very expensive...much cheaper to street tune and almost as effective if you have alot of open roads.
So if you're doing a street tune, you could do it for probably 200-400 depending on the guy you're using? There seems to be alot of guys in my area.. Just figured it would be dumb to do until I get my headers and stuff done first.. Or can you tune first then add everything else later? As in, will you have to re-tune after you add the headers and stuff or will it be fine? Notice a nice increase in drivability after the tune? As in, actual driving with merging, acceleration, etc..

find a tuner now that is willing to work with you, talk with you thro the process and is also very knowledgeable..
hang out with said tuner...
beging to get mods...header/downpipe so forth...once you have the mods, the tuner should know for the most part what to do
tune your car as needed, ask the tuner questions such as "are the IDC levels still high? should i swap LSJ injectors in? spark plugs should i change em" so forth.
**** apparently I don’t charge enough for my tune. If you are paying someone anything over $350 to tune your bolt on auto 2.4
unless you are boosted
But yeah a dyno tune is always a good thing so you can get the higher end tuned right, you can only do so much while street tuning. On the cars that I have tune two of them have been on the dyno then I finish everything on the street under normal driving conditions. The first thing you want your tuner to do is to get a base line log of the car to see what it is doing and where you are at as in regards to you fuel trims and you IDC's.
Then he is going to take that info and alter your tune accordly. Different tuners have different ways of doing things that still lead to the same end result. Do not always think there is one clear cut way to do something while tuning. Different cars act differently.
Also Projekt:
Remember with the LE5 it requires a full write entire every time you make a change. Also if your tuner is going back and forth between LSJ & LE5 there is a glitch with in the HPT software where you have to change a setting in the VFG file. I believe that is the one since I do not have my laptop with me while at work.
