I'm having second thoughts about my 2.4

I was really thinking about getting rid of my 2.4. I mean its not terribly fast at only 150hp to the wheels. Sure it has potential but still. $18,200 I paid for the car. Vs approx 21k for the SS/SC. 150whp vs 205whp. even if i added a $4000 stage 2 turbo kit ( bringing the price to $22,200) giving 243whp. I mean seriously are there any pro's to having a 2.4 than there is an SS/SC?!

Maybe i'm being irrational. Or suffering from post 10K mile depression. Odometer hit 10,000 just after i pulled in the driveway. My little boys all grown up now

If all you wanted was the fastest car, then yes you made the wrong choice. The S/C gives more bang for the buck and is cheaper to mod.

That being said, you already made your choice, and it can't be undone.

What do you think you can get for a trade for the S/C - 13-14K if your car is super clean?

If you want speed now, the Hahn turbo is your best upgrade path, when released. How much would you have to spend on the S/C, in addition to it's initial cost, to get about 300 engine (240) wheel hp? Then there's always the stage III turbo in the near future......

Whether the 2.4 will be able to make more hp and lower ETs than the S/C, only time will tell. But it does have lots of yet unrealized potential. Does it have weak points? Yes, but you will have to live with/upgrade those now that you've made your choice.

Why did you buy the 2.4 to begin with?

The reasons I chose mine over the S/C was for:
1. better EPA rated gas mileage
2. availability of an auto transmission
3. the sporty, yet not too harsh suspension
4. I got mine for 17.5k out the door - much less than the S/C
5. It didn't have that gay ass wing

I'm not saying that the 2.4 is better, just that it suits my needs better.

i love my 2.4, but honestly the only reasons to ever get it over the s/c is insurance and auto trans. if you arent worried about those things then s/c without a doubt.

Its never easy a person can buy a car only to want another,How long have you had the 2.4, whats your trade in? maybe its more worth it to go turbo, instead of starting car payments all over again

That's not true. The wheels are much nicer (although the '07 sc wheels are good now too). Gas mileage is better. It comes in white. Doesn't have the gay spoiler. No supercharger to wear out. Cheaper replacement of tires. etc etc

Bill said that 4k was NOT for the stage 1 turbo kit. It should be less than that- if not I am not going to buy it.

just seems to me that if ur willing spend 4g's for 100hp why not spend a lil more swap internals and crank the boost to like 400-500hp. Get more out of the turbo.

i like the 2.4 and imo it will surpass the 2.0 when the same things are available for the 2.4 that are already on/out for the 2.0. the 2.4 is what is going to be competing with evos and sti's.

I think were running away from this thread a little for 3 grand more and a whole lot less hassle than getting the 2.4 up in power, out of the box some might feel having their 2.4 maybe they should have got the 2.0 not disputing the fact that the 2.4 can produce more power gains if ya willing to spend

Well I don't have mine yet but the reasons I went with the 2.4 SS is cause I could get it in a 4door cause I got 2 kids and a puppy and a 2 door is just not practical enough for me anymore, I could NOT stand that silly looking wing that you can hang your laundry out to dry on, Gas is TOO damn expensive and the 2.0 SC one can eat it up QWIK!, and I wanted an automatic this time around.

I'll post pics when GM builds the thing and I get it.

Wow, Joe, That's a fantastic price for a 2.4!!!

Was it a new, 0 mile car? What options did you get? 5sp or auto?

I paid $17,500 (cash) including DOC - everything but tax and registration - for my 2.4l auto w/pioneer sound. I had to drive over 100 miles to to get what I thought was a good deal.

What dealer did you buy your car from?

I'm thinking of getting an Impala SS, and Florida is not that far away.

Thanks for your help.
