I actually cut the bov spring today and the surge went away, it has a little so in a bit I'm gonna trim a little more off.

You know those hand operated vacuum pumps they have at autozone or any part store? Pick one up and hook it up to the vacuum//boost port on the bov and cut the spring till it opens @ 19 or 20 in/hg your car probably makes 18 or 19 in/hg but you don't want it open at idle that will let in unfiltered air.

A improperly set up bov is the #1 cause of surge on custom applications!

ok so here is another question I have a intake manifold vac leak.... the car sounds like this.
YouTube - ‪Intake Manifold Vacuum Leak‬‏
First time I heard it I sprayed around the intake manifold with carb cleaner and found that the leak is coming from the passenger side. So I checked the bolts and one was loose, and another wouldn't tighten and kept on spinning. I turn the car back on and the whistle went away, I've been driving it a couple of times like this from where I've been cutting the spring on the BOV. Now today when I was gonna go datalog the whistle is back. Do yall think its from where that one bolt doesn't tighten down? When I was supercharged I never had those two long bolts on and I know others that never put them on as well had no vac leaks. Or could it be the gasket itself?

I'm leaning more towards the gasket cuz way back in the day when I first installed the supercharger the gasket I had was faulty and this is what it sounded like.
YouTube - ‪2.4SS/SC‬‏
Very similar to what it sounds like right now.

Now question is could I use some of this for a temporary fix til I can buy an intake manifold gasket. I used this for my oil pan when I removed it to get it tapped for the oil fitting.

Tomorrow afterwork I'm going to use the permatex oil resistant on the intake manifold. After reading on a couple of sites it seems alot of V8 muscle guys use it more than cork gaskets or metal gaskets.

well tonight something really bad happened ..... some of the wires on the wiring harness got fried...... How? unknown....... It happened right after I raced a friend going back to another friends house. My speedo, tach, and fuel gauges shut down, the little car-lock light came on, and the control panel flashed from low fuel to power steering and whatever the other one is.... My windshield wipers stay on, headlights and brake lights stay on, as well as the radio. Oh and the windows go up and down when you push the button. All this when the key is out of the ignition..... Tomorrow me and a friend are gonna try and figure out whats wrong with it. cross fingers its something small like replacing a section of wires, but I doubt that..... I will keep yall updated

oh and I got a 14.1@105mph with a 2.5 60ft at the track tonight. The tune still needs tweaking but this doesn't really matter right now lol

My wastegate is set up like yours, one line from the
Hallman pro MBC to the side of wastegate, with top
open to vent and the source from the IM.
I have no boost spikes at all, jumps to what its set at
and stays there, but I have the light spring in the MBC
and a 6psi spring in the wastegate.
Some times I have heard the sounds in your vid, but
not very often.

Ok, well after fixing a couple of minor vac leaks, and installing new tune. I went out for a test drive today and the car will go up to 25lbs of boost now instead of 15lbs like before. My whole setup is the same nothing has changed, and my boost controller like it has been is set at its lowest setting. Also I can hear what sounds to me like a hamster wheel or rusty wheel. Sometimes its always there and other times it comes and goes.

lol I think I had the same face as well... cuz once it hit 20psi the tires lost traction. Also to the car smokes every once and awhile and smells like burnt oil. This started happening when I installed the turbo.

Sound like your turbo is taking a dump on u. Is it new or used? A way to check the turbo seal is to disconnect the downpipe from the turbo and start the car. If oil is spitting out then u have a blown seal. Blown seal=new turbo. Good luck.

umm maybe you cut you BOV spring too much and now the BOV isn't opening?

thats the only thing that makes sense..

btu be careful man.. you're asking for a blown engine running the car to 25 psi without a tune dialed in for it

however.. i'm sure the ****** scoots lol

lol the tires brake loose, and yeah I won't be pushing it til I figure out whats wrong. I thought the bov only releases pressure once you let off the gas.

so I read on another forum if your oil catch can is clogged, it can cause the oil to not drain out the turbo and will blow oil out the seals. This was on a STI forum....
