Injen CAI

Just got the pretty red box today. Probably going to install it later tomorrow afternoon. I'm stoked! Anyone have some pretty good experiences or bad experiences? (Bad experiences don't really matter as I already bought it) but still I'd like to know community opinions on performance parts manufacturers and how their parts do on our cars =)

Injen is better than K&N on the 2.2/2.4L systems...

It took me like 2 hours. I have never put a CAI on so I was pretty frustrated with removing my massive ass air box that went below my friggin fog lamps. Ultimately I had to break down and remove some retaining screws for the passenger side front bumper / fender and yank like a **** to get the retaining clip to release the airbox from the subframe. Fitment was awesome and I about came on myself when I heard that "whisp" in neutral. Then I heard the deep bass that rattttttttllllleeeeeeddddd my dash from 20-55mph...

if you take out the front headlight with 2 10mm and the retainer, you can then get to the bolts that hold the side of the front bumper and makes the removal about 10 minutes

I took the entire stock air intake off including the airbox under the headlight out. the thing literally said lower inside the bumper than my fog lights. I even had to remove the ballast on the fog light to squeeze it out at an angle.

In hindsight, I should have completely removed everything in the way before I started installing it. Oh and its better to install it from the filter up (I had to remove the elbow and the "straight pipe" to get everything puzzle pieced for fitmet. I scratched the downpipe that goes through the small opening a little but its hidden by the headlight so no foul. Only downside other than that was no friggin decal was shipped. I might buy a decal later but I was stoked that I could finally put a performance decal on my car that I actually had installed =)

The rattle is from the bass vibration from the intake and the exhaust. The intake is very securely attached inside the engine bay. I have a video with how it sounds Im uploading soon.

I installed mine with the filter under the hood rather than behind the bumper. I had to remove that engine hoist bracket because it was rubbing on the intake pipe, and started to wear a hole in it.

If you take your time, and are a little creative, you can complete the install with the screw part of all the hose clamps hidden. It makes for a clean install.

Its been on for almost 2 weeks now. I'm very happy with the purchase. Made me want to upgrade my Throttle Body badly but I had a lean budget to stick to. Highly recommend these guys even though they never did include a decal for TTR =/

The intake is a great first mod. You car sounds very aggressive now, which is what you want from a intake. Plus TTR always has great deals on for parts for the cobalt/G5. For your next mod you should do a catback exhaust.

I regapped them to .038 from .040 but there some slight hesitation at the lower RPMs. Any recommendations for gapping?

I'm running the NGK BKR6E (Iridium)

Here is an updated video with the way it sounds now. I was thinking about a Magnaflow Catback High Flow exhaust.

Yeah that sounds good. Nice growl at wot as well. Magnaflow, gmpp, corsa, theres soo many to choose from really. Great thing is youtube has a sound clip of preatty much any cobalt exhaust made, so you wont have any trouble deciding what one you want.
