So I'm going to get an intake and after checkin the thread (great job to whoever made it) I think I'm gunna get an injen intake, just wanted to know if people think this is a good idea or is there one that's better. And does anyone know the model that is needed for a 2007 cobalt SS 2.4L? I was looking on ebay and lots of them list years 05-06 but is this the 06 engine different from the 07? Thx for the help!

I have a injen one for my 2.4l, it sounds AMAZING, and the added power it brings is cool. I like how it can be converted from SRI and CAI, whichever you want. Try looking for a 2.2l/2.4l type model.

 

depends on what model n year. i didn't know SAI came on the 2.4's. i thought it was only 2.2's.

as for intakes. im a big fan of pep boys tube, and a aem dryflow filter. all in all about 100 bucks. i won't spend 200+ for a name when i can make the same thing cheaper. when it comes to an intake, the filter is what ur basically paying for.

 

I have the CAI version on my 2.4L. I like it a lot!

i bought one from them about 5 days ago and got it this evening and installed it.

WOW it was such a difference and i love it..pulls a lto harder with WOT from 4500 on.

i like also how you can go SRI or CAI... ( i chose the ladder )

i have a 07 2.2 and i think the 2.4 is the same fitment?

 

Yeah, you actually have to buy a 2.2L for the 2.4L. When I bought it, the box said that it was for the 2.2L.

 

Excuse the igorance but wat is a SAI? haha. And is that better then a Cold Air Intake?

Also, do r the 2.2, 2.4, and 2.0 all different intakes or are like the 2.2 and 2.4 the same and only the 2.0 different?

 

I went with the Injen a few months back. Great choice and a lot of people comment about it. I noticed a big difference in throttle response and of course the nice deep tone. I used the short-ram install method so when i need to go the dealer i can take it off in a matter of minutes.

Yes defently go with turbotech GREAT people over their i personaly did the injen CAI and my GMPP and it felt awsome it pulled alot harder from 4000 on up and i did cold air setup which was a PIA but scince i had the car up in the air my dad an i jus pulled the right front wheel and took out half the inner wheel well plasic which is alot easier then removing the bumper. i think you can also take out the headlight an take out the tray its only 5 10mm bolts i had mine out in under 5 min lol but anywho I lik the injen intake, looks good and preforms

 

just my 2 cents, i got the first 2.4 CAI from Rebel... it's the most amazing product available impo, i remember a dramatic decrease in temp, amazing sound lol haha this thing is a beast, i opend her up on a little parkinglot across the other side of timmies, and all the 2.4 guys were impressed, and it looks pretty sick too... all chrome finish, its also 3' with a 2.5' - 3.0' converter, really noticed a big gain in lower end tourqe and it dropped my MPG a little aswell.. well worth the price imo if you love your balt and wana get the best of the best because i love my baby but i dont have all the money in the world so I cant do too much, but for just a CAI it was the best decision I ever made

 

Where did u buy the rebel intake? Has anyone else heard anything about this brand?

ive been planning to buy a cai myself in a month or two when the weather gets a little nicer around here. i want a short ram intake so its between the gmpp or the k&n i ve been leaning towards the k&n since i think it would give more performance unless u guys think differently. its good to know u havent had any problems with the k&n

 

Some have gotten CELs with K&N because their filters have some form of oil on them.

 

yea i dont want that but some say they get it other say they have no problems so i guess its 50/50. i like the gmpp and it runs with the dryflow air filter but it looks like it still sucks air up through the same hole as the stock air box does im sure i will still get some performance out of it but probably not as much the k&n. if i was to get the k&n is there anything i can do to make sure i dont have problems with it.

 

So wat do u think is better, cold air intake that goes down or the short ram one? Also was is CEL?

 

definately a cold air intake is better and CEL is the check engine light.. just make sure when u put it on everything is tight and that wheel well plastic piece is on properly and no gaps and you shouldnt have a problem.. Sometimes the intake will get wet and it might cause a CEL

 

Is there a lot of problems with the CAI getting wet? So would you say the injen CAI is the best or is there better?

 

i have the injen cai for my ss/sc and never had a problem.. i mean if i were i would just go with the injen CAI and then get a hyrdoshield($25) if your worried about it

 

Does the hydrosheild restrict air flow and where would you buy that?

 

My experience with K&N Short Ram Intake (SRI) thus far has been:
No CELs, No Hydro Lock, No Filter Wetting, No power loss due to "HOT AIR"... there seems to be a lot of urban legends here when it comes to intakes... use the search feature and make your own decision...

My 2007 2.4 SS was one of the first (if not the first on Cobalt SS Network) to receive a K&N Typhoon SRI and I wouldn't change my decision.

 

no im gettin one soon for mine just to keep it cleaner; its just a water resistant cloth thing to help prevent ur filter from gettin dirty and it getting wet.. but as long as you dont drive through a 3 ft. puddle your fine
