Its about damn time!!!

Finally got my turbo in so i figure id take some pics and post em up and show my progress so far...
by the way its a garrett t3/t4 50 trim with .63a/r and a stage 3 wheel

couple minor problems with the mani meeting up with the turbo but ill just have to have it machined down...otherwise up next im going to pick up all my oil fittings and lines and bolts and stuff and then im going to take it to a shop and have the downpipe with dumptube plumed in...let me know what you all think

p.s. i know this aint in the right section but its pretty relevant to the 2.4

The manifold needs some grinding work. Is that one of the $150 jobs on ebay?

I've got a 2-Bar map, with the pigtail and lead wires coming out of it BRAND NEW you can use for this setup. $70shipped

Hey Mike,
What's happening with the manifold? Not enough clearance between turbo and firewall?

BTW, a good friend of mine has a Scion tc turbo. He has 307WHP. So I guess you can achieved that power. I think he is @ 15-16 psi.

It should be damn fast once its all completed. You'll have to post some vids once its all together and tuned properly. I might go turbo once my G5 GT is paid off.

Mike, if you need help with the tuning let me know.

It can be done with and without the 2 bar map. I have personally tuned dan's with the stock map sensor just fine. Shoot me a PM here or on the redline forums if you have trouble.

If you do it right, the price difference isn't much. You're going to spend that much ultimately.

I hope that wasn't serious... this is a completely different motor.

The "stage" that you're hearing about refers to the turbine in the turbo. It's not just some random stage number like the SS/SC stage kits from GM or Intense.

yea hes tellin you the truth...you just get the satisfaction of picking out your own parts and having some pretty damnnice parts....the tuning will kill you though if you take it somewhere...i think im estimating pretty much about 3500 right now...also you can buy parts at your own pace...but im warning anyone who tries this...you better be ready for some headaches

actually nothing happened to him..i heard was banned for some reason or another...as for his car from what i heard it was tuned and ran great and never had a problem except for a failed turbo on the companies part...he just sold it to buy other stuff

well im thinking about just taking the car to pcmforless and letting him dyno tune it and what not...i have a mild understanding of the tuning but id feel better if someone who knows the ropes of hpt does it instead...do you mind if i pm you and just get an idea of what you did to dans car/ what needs to be done to get it to run right? if not thats cool...cant be given away all the secrets i guess

Yes, I know motors are different. But compare it with hahn's:
Hahn Racecraft Stage 2 (cobalt 2.4L) - 290 HP (at crank) - 241HP at wheels with 8 lbs. boost

So my friend's Scion tc turbo (stock motor) is making 307WHP @15-16 psi. I think this is achievable with the 2.4L cobalt.

im not new to this game. the stage is just a coverup to make people think they are getting a better turbo. i prefer hard numbers. like a 10 degree clip on the exhaust wheel rather than a stage 2 exhaust wheel. or say a 74mm wheel in a 67mm housing rather than a stage 5 compressor wheel.

i just want to know what im getting, not some bullshit answer.

Didn't mean to insinuate you didn't know anything about turbos. Was just pointing out that it wasn't just a random number thrown out there... it indicates a specific turbine in the turbo. It's a lot easier to denote the turbine wheel by a number rather than full specs. My turbo is a Turbonetics T3/TO4E 50 trim .48 a/r with stage 2 wheel. I don't have the info in front of me here at work, but the complete specs are readily available from Turbonetics for all of their turbos. I'd assume Garrett makes their specs readily available as well.

yepo. that they do man. most people don't care to know, thats the annoying part. some people just want a big ass turbo on their car without knowing the surge limit, or efficiency range of it all.

no harm no foul man, we're all at different experience levels in the game so to speak

p.s. your s/n amuses me
