someone awhile ago posted the engine materials list for the LE5 (was in a comparsion to the LSJ thread) i was wondering if that person or someone else could post that up again, its very good information that we should for sure have as a sticky

ask one of the guys thats using my old pistons as ash-trays... they're crap. You can call them forged, cast, whatever you want.. the bottom line is they are the product of the lowest bidder.

All these ecotecs, most GM **** in general has cast aluminum hypereuteric pistons (not sure I spelled that right). Its basically a higher silicone alloy, somewhat better than normal cast, but nothing special at all. Major defect of the stock pistons is the upper ringland desing, as that is usually what breaks when the stock pistons fail. Its not so much the material.
