Mod questions? 175 whp? product suggestions?
Hey yall,
Been doing alot of looking and searching through the site in the last week. Im looking to put a little money into my 'balt but not a fortune. Wondering if it will be possible to make 175 whp with the mods im looking at:
-ZZP High Flow Intake Tube
-K&N drop in filter
-LSJ Throttle Body
-ZZP Mid-length header and downpipe
-Catback exhaust (undecided on which)
-Tune
Does anyone have any of these and can give me some opinions on them? Is 175 whp doable with these mods?
Also looking for suggestions on exhaust... I was looking at the SLP LM II however speaking with another member he said it is quite loud. Im looking to keep the car as quiet as possible while still gaining performance. Ideas?
ZZP Drilled and Slotted rotors, anyone have them??? I have to get new breaks and I was looking into these with Hawk HPS pads. Any reviews would be a HUGE help.
Thanks!

Catback is unnecessary, you'll see about 3-5whp from it. If your on a budget and want it quiet just get the CTI over axle piece. Besides that your list looks good. And I love my Trifecta tune

Yeah the slp is pretty loud and with a catted cti downpipe my exhaust pops pretty loudly on decel. I like it but it can be very loud at times. I will admit sometimes I do wish it was quieter especially for a dd lol

I would love an LNF but like I said, my wife wanted me to buy an auto...
Im not looking to go super fast, I have another car for that. Just more passing power and to have a bit more fun with. Plus I have to drive this thing in the winter and the lake effect isn't exactly friendly.

Cti is a brand. What is being said is that the stock exhaust is 2.5" till it goes over the axle then it reduces. So cti makes an over the axle pipe that you can weld a muffler of your choice to and go full 2.5" exhaust. However after buying the pipe muffler and having it welded together you can be close to the price of a catback. If your worried abut noise level you can do the header and downpipe and use the stock catback. It will get a bit more pep to it without gaining much noise. The stock ss/na catback is the same one use on the supercharged cobalts. Only the downpipe is different. So maybe buy the header and downpipe first and see what you think. Then if you still feel you need the catback go for it.

Cobalt SS
And as to getting a "real" SS; yes the SS/NA isn't fast and doesn't handle as well as LNF's of LSJ's but it can still be a great car. Modding it is still fun, as is driving it with the right mods. But if you want something with real power don't bother modding it, it works for many of us because it is cheaper, insurance is cheaper, it doesn't have the problems that modding a F.I. entails and it can sometimes be quick enough for most of us

He meant stock LNF.
It's a good mod, but the quality is hit-or-miss. I bought mine during a group buy and the flange was horribly curved, a sign that it was quickly welded and not prepped properly. But Brad was a good guy about it and after I felt I had tried everything I contacted him and he sent me a new one relatively quickly.
It does give a noticeable hp gain though, and it's shiney

The SS/NA may not be fast but it certainly has potential when either turbocharged or supercharged.
I'm not looking to go fast right now either. My first upgrades will be FE5 struts/shocks with Pedder Springs and a rear sway bar from Powell.
