Hi i have a 2.4 with about six thousand miles on it. No mods, auto. What should my MPG be around cause im only getting like 19.

 

they say 22 in the city but you wont get that.....19 sounds about right with all the stoping and starting in a city

 

Where do U do most of your driving? City, Hwy?

 

i don't do much city, but the lowest i have gotten has been 24 thats when i lived in pittsburgh, but my driving now i hit nearly 30mpg DD

 

About half city half highway.

 

How do you drive? If you drive spirited then 19 mpg is probably about right. The more you press on the gas the more gas you burn. When I first bought my car I loved to gas it at every light and go 0-60 in 6 or 7 seconds... however doing that seriously lowers your mpg... hehe

Also, are you using 91 octane or 87 octane?

 

32-34 mpg on average, mostly highway tho. 2.2 5spd. I had another 2.2 before the one i have now and hit 41mpg at one point on a 4 hour trip to northern PA. Only mods are K&N SRI and Magnaflow muffler.

 

I get around 28-30

Its important to reset the fuel economy thing in the DIC, then drive for a day or two and this gives you an accurate overall reading. The only time mine has ever gotten to 19 is if im just sitting there with the motor running after having just reset the fuel economy meter on the DIC. I can reset it in the morning, drive 40 miles to work in traffic, then at lunch sit in my car running for a half hour, not moving, and it still would be up around 26 mpg.

 

I have a 2.4L and I can get about 24 city mpg if I drive lightly. But I'm a bit of an acceleration addict so I get about 19mpg but on the highway I get about 33 mpg @70 mph

However, I get 38-40 mpg at 55 mph on my regular drives. I live in a country type setting and work in the city.

 

In my 2.4L Pursuit I get 24 City 33 Highway (70mph) on average.

In careful driving at 50mph (optimal speed for our cars it seems) I have squeezed out up to 45mpg on 35 mile trip.

 

Uhh, pretty much the same for me as what everyone else is saying is what I get.

If your not driving "spirited" then you may be running lean, have a dirty filter or sumfin. How long have you been getting that kind of mileage?

...the more you reset it the less accurate it is. You really should only reset it when you fill up if you want to get an accurate reading about what your MPG was since your last fill up. If you want to make yourself feel good, speed up to 65 set the cruise and then reset the gauge you'll get awesome MPG. The longer you go without resetting it the more accurate it is to your overall daily average.

 

That's the way I do it. On days when I'm driving mostly in cruise on the interstate in Central to Northern Illinois (Bloomington to Chicago), I've been seeing 30-32 MPG until I start driving in the city. City driving runs 22-24 MPG. 93 Octane, K&N Typhoon SRI, Jet GM Stage 1 and properly inflated P6 tires all factor in as does prevailing wind speed and direction.

 

i reset trip and mpg at fills, mostly to determine accuracy of the mpg (now it's just habit)

3300 miles on the car, i average about 29.8 actual, 30 even on econometer. 2008 2.4 5spd. country\city mix.

 

were doing pretty bad am doing 20 with s2. I use to do 24 city, am pretty sure my mpg will be going up cuz i barely have a couple of days with s2 so a lot on the gas lol

 

i get 21.3 5spd city but i never reset the average so I think I should do that at next fill up and see what I get.

 

18 city 27 highway for me

 

I got 23.5 for city and 28 on the highway

 

19.3 city give or take 26 Hiway vector tune actually upped it a bit if i drive less spirited i can get 22 city ... but i like to live my life.

 

If I'm just cruising on the highway at 100 kph (62 mph), my MPG is around 34-36 with the mods in my signature.

 

That's gotta be downhill.

th real way to get your MPG, do the math at the fill-up... miles driven divided by gallons of gas, boom, done.... that litte electronic thing is off by sometimes around half a gallon to a gallon anyways.............. anyhow, anywhere between 20-24 city and anywhere between 30-34 highway

 

ive found my dic to be quite accurate i do the math and compare maybe once every 2 or 3 months. i usually get around 25-28 city and around 31-35 highway. honestly i thought i drove excessivly but you guys put me to shame. oh and i did see 40+ on a trip from Biloxi MS to Jacksonville AR doing 80+ the whole time. made it on a single tank and its a little over 400 miles.
