1) I didn't say 16hp was unbelievable i was asking

2) 25 HP seems like a lot to me but I don't know a whole lot about cars.

3) Great way to make a jerk of yourself and put others down!

i wasn't being a jerk. i was just stating the fact that people that had no idea what they were talking about were saying things that didn't make sense. 16 hp is less than 10%, which is below the standard drivetrain loss for a fwd manual car. 25 hp is a decent amount, but not enough to make a 1 or 2 second difference.

sorry if i came across like an ass, i had a few drinks tonight so wasn't pulling any punches. but almost everybody that posted here was completely and totally wrong with what they said. and someone is asking a legit question but getting nonsense responses so it's a little frustrating.

again, my bad if i offended anyone, that was absolutely not my intent. we all start somewhere, and if you were really asking, then i took it the wrong way. sorry for that.

Cobalt stock record atleast according to this forum 15.46 held by me...so yea ur car is capable of some horsepower,

that ticking noise..try switching to premium..ive ran premium since the day i got the car and i never get the ticking noise..where my buddies 2.4 who runs regular always gets it...

as far as no power...i got a SRI intake and i ran against a rx-8 today..and i held my own..was pretty even..so far ive only been impressed with my 2.4, ive held my own against fellow ss/sc...so thats pretty damn good if u ask me

The kid with the Cavalier 2.4 probably just has one of those Z24's. Those were twin cam 2.4's. Not the fastest cars around.

LOL the car only feels slightly faster than the 2.2 because of the antifun device installed on all the 2.4s. It is faster you just have to drive the car like its got engine troubles. To acheive off the line that is not embarrasingly shitty you wanna put your foot about 1/3 into the throttle untill 30-35 mph then you can romp on it. Think of it as a really lame tempromental hotrod with a very unforgiving peddel too much peddel and you bog off the line too little and you move like a granny. Seriously WTF GM.

yea i feel like the shift from first to second is best if you hit it at 5k or 5.5k rpms sometimes mine bogs down if it goes too high. its probably just a crappy power shift. but its only from first to second

yeah i hear ya..what ive been doing latly is throtling it near the red line..around the 6...so i tap on the accelerator like twice...and shift into 2nd HARD...prevents it from bogging down but u risk hitting the redline goveneer..trust me ive done it..NOT a good feeling lol

the worst feeling ever in the coby was when i was in reverse on a huge driveway (building lower than street) so i gave it a lot of gas as not to crash into the wall and didn't let out all the way on the clutch (no idea what i was thinking and the only time this has ever happened) and smelled my burnt clutch for the next mile or so. but that was a long long time ago. and its still okay so....
