Red face Naturally Aspirated 2.4 mods

Hey I'm thinking of doing a few things to the '06 2.4 SS I just picked up but I want some opinions on what should be done.

I'm currently a college student so I think boosting is a little out of the budget for now (maybe one day). What do you think would be a good way to get a little more zing and a little more noise (without sounding ricey) while still keeping reliability?

Thanks

Yup, if its not a SS/TC its not worth modding for performance *rolls eyes.

Lots of guys making 170-180whp with bolt-on's and a tune in those cars.

Boost isn't always the answer.

It's your car man. Do want u want. But CAI, and exhaust is a good start. Header and downpipe would be the first thing I'd do.

Do CAI, full exhaust and a tune. Call it a day. Move on to appearance or something after that.

I started with a 2.4, so...... *rolls eyes*. For the price of bolt ons and tune and what ever else for the gain... it's not really worth it, hence why I said go suspension or looks.

as for the tc cobalt the only one worth modding.... no one said anything about a t/c I said trade up, that could be one of many many cars better than a cobalt. SO GET THE SAND OUT KID!

i got full exhaust and CAI. still need a tune which is coming soon but there is an increase in power non the less.

and some of us don't like taking the easy way to do things. sometimes the road less travelled is much more fun and more rewarding in the end. with that being said i will stick with my 2.4L. yes the TC's and LSJ's are fun to drive but i love my 2.4 and she isn't going anywhere

This is the best info anyone can tell you. You can drop a lot
Of money into a 2.4 and still not make above 200hp.

Someone told me this early in the game and I am strictly appearance aside from my Sri.

to each their own but i love even just working on my car. sometimes i wish i bought an older car with problems so i would constantly have somethin to work on. thats why i like modding my 2.4, and i guess i like going a lil faster too

^ you guys crack me up. if you have nothing positive to add get your face fucked, im sick of having to sift through meaningless and just plain stupid posts. answer the question or move on.

I have the same car. 06 2.4 5 speed. its got 136K miles and runs like a champ. dont be shy they take a good beating.

if you have a 5spd i would go with a TWM Short throw FIRST! makes a huge difference in the feel of the shifting and seems to make it much more enjoyable to drive. and a CAI and a full exhaust is good. theres so much you could list.... id say to start there and see what you still want out of it after.

for the $20K you spend on a SS/TC you could build one hell of a Nova, Camaro, or a Mustang.

I wouldn't listen to negative comments like that. Consider the mods in my signature. It won't come too cheap but at least you'd be fully ready for a blower set up in the future if you ever wanted to go that route.

I couldn't have said it any better myself.

"Built not bought" is a thing to be proud of. I personally can't wait to start my project. Trading in is the easy way out.

Dump all the coin you want, some of us sure have!

LE5 FTW! I wouldn't trade my 07 for a zero mile LNF at this point, she and I have a great love affair going on and I honestly hope she is my willing partner for years to come.

How do you like that throttle body and 3.1 pulley on your LE5?

I find it ******* amazing how many douche bags are on this forum. Not everyone want's a turbo balt. Not everyone here is looking to see exactly how small there dick is when they go to the track and beat a mustang. Who really gives a flying ****. Look at it this way man it's your car and you can do whatever you want. and whatever you do and you like it.. Then that's all that matters............END

Not bad at all, always seems like I'm chasing down a glitch or two these days, p0300s, service traction, idle fubars, the usual **** that comes from adding boost and large pipes.

But, gives me something to research and think about and this past week I'm spending a bit of my evenings cleaning sensors. MAP today, CKPs yesterday, tomorrow I'll try and reach my MAF for yet another spray down.

Latest vid, kinda lame but all thats new:

I hate traction control enough as it is already. I can only imagine how much of a pain in the ass it is with a blower lol
