Lightbulb New Jet Chip Control Module

If you think the Jet Chip Performance Modules caused some controversy...check out Jet Chip's new Power Control Module #68021.

This is a new product that JEGS will be selling next week ($194 price increase since posting). According to the Jet Chip Website the performance module gives you some basic information and allows some tuning of spark and fuel control.

this should start some heated debate on CSS.net

I hope they'll have some major restrictions on how much you can modify the spark and fuel control.......this is not a toy, and it's not child's play. I can see many engines having premature failure.

well the module are already pretuned on the old setup, this would allow you to advance the timing and fuel yourself

That's because it has already been mentioned in other posts of the Jet Chip module

No...it is a stand alone module -- kind of a replacement for the Performance module.

Brand new -- just came out with it that's why they haven't put any more into the Performance modules. JEGS told me they should have them the 29th.

Nothing wrong with being wary. Since Jet Chip has been making electronic performance stuff for GM cars since the 80s I would trust them far more then someone who just bought HPTuners and tells me they can super-tune my ECM -- no thanks.....

The funny thing is that those Jet chips don't give you perfect A/F ratios and fuel mapping like you think they do.

AND THEY'RE WRONG. Since the Jet Chip Module is a piggyback that changes what the ECM is putting out how do people with HPTuners know they are reading the ECM or the modified signals? I'll accept info like this from someone who has has a "sniffer" up the tail pipe to give real information.

People on this site that use HPTuners tend to promote the HPTuners and don't want to accept that the Jet Chip Module works -- Why? Because they could make money off their HPTuners by tuning other owner's cars. A little one-sided don't you think?

How about we make an agreement? -- People that want HPTuners get to read threads about HPTuners and I won't jack those threads with "should just get a Jet Chip Module -- it's less of a headache then HPTuners" and people that are interested in Jet Chip Modules/Control Modules won't have to read "Should get HPTuners -- it's better" in every thread.

hey red you said the 29th for a ship date or in stock date?

I emailed Jet about it, they normally take about 24 hours to get back to me. I will def. be looking at being one of the first to have this.

also do you know if that will work on a '08? or a cobalt in general since we do have a chip out?

JEGS techline said 29th is when they expect them in.

All I know is what we can read on the Jet Chip website -- Ive been waiting for a response to an e-mail also.

So where does that thing plug in? And would I have to run wires through my fire wall? or does it plug in under my dash?

If you are asking about the stage 1 and stage 2 performance modules, they plug into the 06 and 07 2.4's ECM center connector and then the center wire harness attaches to it (no wires).

The 08 2.4's ECM is different and it doesn't appear to work on this engine/ECM combo yet. There is another thread on this and we are waiting for results.

If you are asking about the new tune-able module, I haven't gotten any info from Jet Chip yet and only have the little info they have on their website -- which isn't much. I imagine it attaches to the same connector -- but then you would have to run wires into the passenger compartment to hit the buttons.

I was thinking it connects to the OBD port under the dash.

I talked to Alford at Jet Chip. He said the new performance module has wires that run into the engine compartment and needs to be connected to multiple items: MAF, power source, ground, etc.

For now I'll stick with their "plug and play" stage 1 module

correct me if I'm wrong but the control unit only allows you to monitor your diagnostics not change anything. The performance module is the "tune" which changes the air/fuel ratio etc. right?
