Is this normal?

I took off my engine cover and kept it off but my oil cap looks like this with the seal kind of sticking out and tilted.

neodude101 12-10-2007 11:16 AM

isn't that how the riser is supposed to look?

an0malous 12-10-2007 11:17 AM

oh thats just there to lift the cap up over the engine cover.

gotcha gotcha.

ok ignore my post lol

NP05Cobalt 12-10-2007 11:20 AM

^^x2 yah just take the riser off and only put the cap back on

YellowLT 12-10-2007 11:20 AM

Take the Raise out and put the Cap directly into the Valve cover.

BULLETSSMOKE 12-10-2007 11:21 AM

Remove both and just shove the cap back in? Does this affect my engine at all?

neodude101 12-10-2007 11:29 AM

Take the oil cap off, then take off the riser, and the cap will screw right into the valve cover.

And nope, it shouldn't affect engine performance at all (unless you break the riser while taking it off and it falls in or something...). Most people on here take the riser off (I had to use a pair of pliers to get mine to turn) when they take their engine cover off. Look at some other people's pics of their engine bays (with engine covers removed). You'll see their oil caps sitting flush with their valve covers.
