Philips Xenon HID's, Jet Performance Modules

I'm in the process of installing Philips Xenon HID headlights and Jet Performance Modules. Will keep you updated on power increase, acceleration and fuel economy. As well as headlight operation. Will not be providing a Dyno. Just my opinion.

Update.

Got my headlights in, a lot of troubleshooting was required, but this was because of a faulty relay. Which makes switching from dims to brights unreliable. Shipping new relay now, should have it in a few days. Dims are 10x brighter than my dims on my stock headlights. With the new relay, i will have both dims and brights. It was simple to install, but, a pain going through the troubleshooting. An amateur can do it with patients and time. Philips customer service was outstanding and very helpful.

Will keep you all updated.

Update

So I have both the lights installed and he jet performance modules installed. Here is are links so you can know what I actually installed.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/JET-68021/
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/JET-10608S/
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/JET-69143/
http://www.philipsxenon.com/chevrole...philips-p-1245

The lights are bi-xenon. Meaning they have both low and high beams. With the lights I had the biggest problems, spent time with technical support figuring out why my headlight are only on dim. Their technical support is awesome btw. The brights do not work, and still do not work to this day. If anybody else has this problem and knows the solution, let me know please. The dims are as bright as my brights of my stock headlights. So all is not lost, I am used to driving in the early morning and late night and would just like to flash people, I hate when people don't have their headlights on when they clearly need to be. I bought these on black Friday last year in 2009 for $180. I was unable to find time during the winter to install and finally got around to it this year. In waiting I lost the warranty, which is why they couldn't replace anything for free. So after hours on the phone they and I came to a mutual agreement and they gave me a set of free HID fog lights to make up for the bright loss. I'm ok with that for now. The fog lights are the same color balance as the headlights, but they are not Phillips xenon. To conclude with the headlights they are a perfect white light set at 4300k. Easy to see the white line in the rain!! Very bright and easy to install. Dummy proof.

The Jet performance modules were simple to install as well. The easiest was the Powr-Flo Mass Air Sensor http://www.summitracing.com/parts/JET-69143/. The most difficult was the JET V-Force Plus Performance Module http://www.summitracing.com/parts/JET-68021/. The only reason why it was the most difficult is that you had to go threw the firewall. Which is right under the steering wheel and right by the brake pedal. Just make sure you don't cut/splice the wrong wires when connecting. Patients is key when working on anything electrical on a car. For safety reasons always disconnect the battery before doing anything electrical. ..duh.

Power and gas mileage. Greatly increased! Auto shifting also improved. Smoother. The majority of the time I run on e85. Without the improvements listed above I got 26 miles per gallon with e85, 34mpg with premium. Now with all the other improvements listed above I get 32mpg with e85 and 38mpg with premium. Those are averages of daily travel of both a mixture of 25% city travel and 75% highway. When I hit the gas mileage reset button on my dashboard I got 26mpg with e85 before the improvements and now 38mpg with e85 traveling at 55mph. 34mpg before the improvements and 43 after with premium at 55mph. I like to accelerate fast, which is where my gas mileage goes wrong. My opinion. These chips work. If you choose to buy, let me know what you think, if you need any help installing, message me or post here. Thanks for reading!

i dont care much at least now i can do and have high/low beam and flash ppl.

i should had made a thread how to fix it lol

i had the same problem, hid turns on, but only in low beam cant use high beam or flash them with your low beams on.
i turn off the lights and use high beam or flash them and the lights will come up (dont know if it is highs or lows)

It most certainly is not in a cobalt. The LE9 (e85 capable version of the LE5) is available in the HHR and Malibu, but not in a cobalt. I was thinking maybe the OP has one of them, but the parts he bought are for an 06 cobalt . THIS is interesting!

Got a good deal on them from a member on here. can honestly say my car was faster with the stage 2 and a cold air intake than it is with a cold air intake catback and a header without the module.

sry man i will write you the solution, right now im in orlando with some family out of country.

basically if you can understand this....
you know the socket where the regular headlights connect to right???
on the HID one is connected and the other is not connected. the one is connected if you look there 3 wires.
by trial and error rearrange the wires till you see the high and low beams works, dont worry if you connected the wrong way because the only thing that will happen is that one of both will work (high or low but not both).
if you have any question just write here ill try to keep checking, also let me know if you fix it.

hope this works if not i will take pic to show you.

I need help on this issue. Some more clarity please. I just bought a bi-xenon kit from Notto SE on Carid.com. I'm currently on the replacement kit because they sent me a new one because the other didn't have hi beams. Now this one doesn't either. I can hear the ballasts clicking to change my lights. Do i rearrange just 2 out of 3 wires and leave my ground alone or what?
thanks!

Cobalt Halogen on the left, my Cobalt HID on the right.

..no editing was done. And both headlights are set on dim.

Last edited by trentonwayne; Sep 8, 2010 at 02:07 AM. Reason: added dims.

thanks!
at the beginning i rearrange only 2 but didnt work so i ended up rearranging all of them until it worked.
I will see if i make a vid so you guys can see it.
my bi-xenon were given to me as gift, i didnt like 6k so i just bought the bulb (5k to match my fog lights) from ddmtuning i think.
cables were different colors, i try to follow the pattern from the others and didn't work so i ended up, rearranging all.
