Short Ram Intake for 2008 Chevy Cobalt 2.4L

Hey y'all, I'm new here and I just got myself a 2008 Chevy cobalt Sports Couple, gotta say I love my car and all. Just had the windows tinted and also changed my stock bulbs for HIDs. My question is: Can a 2007 K&N Short Ram intake part 69-4517TTK work on my cobalt without the engine light showing? I keep on seeing 2008 cold air intake for 2.2L's not 2.4L or I'm just not lookin hard enough lol. Any help would be great to feed my knowledge

You wont get a CEL. 2.2 and 2.4 intake systems are the same.

Smile

So that means it can work basically? Don't have to get a 2.4L I can go with a 2.2L as well?

Yeah I had and 06 SS 2.4 and the intakes are 100% interchangeable. I prefer Injen though. They have the feature to install it as either a short ram OR a cold air intake.

Oh ok, yeah I have a 2008, it kinda sucks I've been looking everywhere and they don't really make short rams for 08's mainly for 05-07 2.4L lol, the factory intake is right above the passenger side fog light, it was a pain getting that fog light replaced

The link from turbotechracing in my last post says 05-08. I'm sure it will fit.

I've got the K&N on my 08. The K&N website (at that time) only listed 05-07, but when I emailed them, they replied that it hadn't been tested on an 08, and that was why it wasn't listed.

I gather the 2.2 and 2.4 will interchange, but the 2.2 is slightly different because the throttle body is not positioned the same as the 2.4

yes the only difference is the heat shield

Edit: Oh btw all bolt ons listed for the 2.4L will work for the 2008 Sport. The only real issue the 08's have is tuning seeing as they use a different ECM than the 06-07 2.4L

The should not be any check engine lights related to this intake system. BTW we will price match just about anyone on this intake system, PM us if interested.

Plus we keep them in stock.

Thanks man, I wish you would of came by earlier haha I already bought a K&N typhoon intake, but I like the price on your Magnaflow exhaust for a 2.4, I just might save up a bit more instead of the megan exhaust

Now my next question would be do they make a K&N air Filter with a funnel/cone on the inside of the filter?

Its not needed. The regular cone filter that came with the intake is fine. You could get a CEL or run too lean by going with a bigger/higher flow filter so save your $45.

I got some money off for having the ttr pic in my signature. They are a good vendor. I got my intake in 2 days.

What other mods do you have on your sport dude?

Agreed. At around 2k rpm its got this nice little whistle that sounds like a turbo spooling up haha. Its loud enough that I've turned a few civic ricer heads too.

So far I have put an Ark DT-S Exhaust in my car, sounds great, and planning on getting a header and down pipe, then need to find out what to do afterwards. I did buy Cobalt SS/SC Rims and spoiler from a member on this forum awaiting arrival of items. It'll be nice to have some back up rims/tires for a future Autocross or track

Awesome man you'll have to take some pics once you get the rims and spoiler on and maybe do a short vid to hear what the exhaust sounds like.
