So the car is being fixed

well took my car in today to get it fixed, i was driving down the highway sunday. and shifting from 3rd to 4th and missed forth it slipped into 2nd for just a sec and i didnt let the clutch up at all. it reved real high for a sec this was at 75mph. i backed off it and shifted into 4th. drove it home stopped somewere and heard a loud ticking. so i drove it home easy. left it run and opend the hood. gees it was very loud coming from under valve cover. my dad says it might be cracked rocker. im like gees he said might have been over reved. well im having the dealer fix it. no news yet dropped it off today probly wont be done till wednesday.

They may not like the fact that your tune goes to 7k RPM. If they also have to do a computer flash say goodbye to your tune.

by "never let the clutch up" do you mean you had your foot to the floor?
cuz if you never let the clutch up at all, it would never have revved up and caused the damage....

you must have...even just for a short time...

no you can still have the clutch all the way down and rev the **** out of it.....he didnt engage the gear...im guessing he revved it to high with the clutch all the way to the floor...which caused his damage

If thats what he did, why even mention he missed a gear?

well all i said to the dealer was. that i was driving on the highway and noticed something ticking. so i drove it home and heard that it was really loud from the valve cover. i dont think theyl get into the computer i hope not. yeah cuz im runnin that bigger injectors and tune reflash ****. and the dude that did is 300 miles away. all there suppossed to do is fix the damn thing maybe replace rocker or something. that shouldnt require tuning. but whoknows. i took it to them today. im gonna ask what all they did to it. cuz if they screwed with any of the fuel flow rates. im screwed i wont be able to drive it cuz i have 34#s in them and itl flood out and il have to floor it all the time lol. i think theyd change the rev litmiter or something. if they see anything well my header o2 is shut off also. or they could just void my warrenty completly since i have CA header and dp on there and sc injectors they wouldnt know by the injectors by looking at them. but they will probly see my header. i dont know i hope it passes by them and its fixed and were all good to go. ill keep posted. and im finding out about my valve cover project tomorrow aswell its been 4 weeks.

that damage was likely caused by revving to high.
which flooring the accelerator would never have allowed to happen. it would just bounce the redline...

but you can go PAST the redline...and cause engine damage, if you shift to 2nd instead of fourth, and let the clutch out.

which btw....I hope its not for your sake....but if that is the case...they will see that over rev in the ECM when they pull the logs.

Agreed.

They can't void your warranty unless they can PROVE your mods caused the damage

The only problem is, if any type of DTC (not necessarily an SES light) would have set, it will take a snapshot of the car's operating conditions at the time including engine RPM. It would then be considered driver abuse.

Edit: I'm not claiming that will happen here, but you guys have to be careful in these type of situations, it can set you up for a nasty repair charge.

well the car runs fine now. just the injectors tick alot more then b4. not to bad though. i dont hear or feel the ticking from under the valve cover. but then they also changed the oil so that might have made it quieter until the thing gets worse and the oil gets worn then itl tick im thinkin that but could be fixed all together.

if the engine blows up il get a new one for free. just have to put on all stock parts then when new is in put on the mods again and then have to retune probly since its totally different engine which would need tuning. but i think the strong little eco will be just fine.

now watch tomorrow il hit a nail and then a piston will shoot right through the hood. lol

ryan. knowing my luck

piece of **** is fuckered again. when its at operating temp like 190 say. if im driving you cant here the noise from the valve cover. but when it sits for about 3 mins and anything longer it will slowly get louder along with injectors being loud ticking already. so i have to take the car back sometime maybe tomrrow i dont know yet. and i told whoever if they have to tear apart the head then do it i dont care. i want it fixed. find the problem and fix it. well ill keep informed about this problem.
