Angry Still getting some KR with 94?

About a month ago I switched from 91 octane gas to 94 ethanol blend (the only way to get higher than 91 around here) due to seeing some knock retard while out datalogging with a friend.

We did some more datalogging recently, and I still have a minor amount of KR. He said it peaked at 2 degrees at one point and there were a few blips of 1 degree.

It might not sound like much to panic over, and I'm not freaking out (really), but on the other hand I'm running the absolute best fuel I can buy out here and this doesn't sound quite right to me.

Is a minor amount of KR going to be unavoidable with the stock GM tune? I am thinking about upgrading to some NGK LTR6ix-11 plugs (1-step colder) just to see if I can get rid of this completely. I plan to go to the track one last time near the end of September and would like to finally get a decent run. Any idea as to how much 1 or 2 degrees of KR is actually hurting me?

i think its impossible. KR is preemptive, so a sensitive sensor will always prevent ping...

check out my reply on the ecotech forums, it might help... you have alot of other variables to worry about other then octane. IAT, TM, M6, AFR, and a bunch of other 2-3 letter acronyms

get your buddy to post the log (assuming hptuners?)

Saw your reply on the Ecotec board, thanks. Yes this is using the HPTuners, which I should also mention is routinely crashing when we scan my car for longer than 20 or 30 seconds. This doesn't happen on any other vehicles. He's using the latest version and has emailed HPT; no reported issues. Have you had any problems BigWorm? I'll get him to email me the log so I can post it up.

actually, i have had problems. i just thought it was issues with the shitty laptop i stole from work =P

in windows xp i have to disable all useless services, like "firewall", "help & stuff", "automatic updates"... basicly strip down the box to run very little and it will log for about an hour for me. the error i would get is "unable to find the setup" or something like that...
