thinking about giving up

i have had my car into service department way to many times to not figure out whats going on with my car. stalling and hesitating and now the rpms are staying around two thousand rpms. last time i was in they told me to put my car back to stock to figure out the problem. i did and still nothing. but the worst part of all is that they told me since i have had aftermarket part on and off the my power train warranty in voided for good. im ready to trade it in no warranty on a new car with two thousand miles screw that. what do you guys think.

I think if you trade it in your going to get hosed.... Thats what I think..... Take it somewhere to get tuned, the computer is probably just confused as hell. Find a performance shop and drop some cash, it will be cheaper than the raping your about to recieve trading in a car with no warranty.

Cobalt SS Network - You CAN tune/program your 2.4 with VVT NOW

You better hope so, your dealership is there to fix problems that come up with stock cars, they are not a performance shop and really don't need to know how to make you car run smooth anyway but stock. If you reverted it to stock I'm sure a dealership could probably fix it, but now you'd have to pay. Whats the point, put your mods back on and find somewhere that knows how to tune/reprogram you car.

I hope im not jinxing myself here, but my car has had no problems up to 14,500 miles. I drive my car overall rather smoothly, but I do get on it frequently and when I do, I get on it to the max. ( Ok it's more often than normal, but we all know how tempting these cars can be! ). I've heard of problems of ss/sc's not starting also which also worries me. I know the ecotec is an extremely robust and reliable powerplant, it almost seems to me like more of electrical or connection problems that seem to be the biggest issues am I wrong? I had a 1985 C4 Corvette (L98) before this and I still feel my cobalt is definitely quicker. ( however rwd handling will always be missed!) I know our engine is cabable of withstanding much more power than stock. Im confident in our engine completely, and our chassis although fwd is still rather close if not equal to integra's etc. when set up properly. We have to remember however the cobalt is still a fairly new vehicle, and the ss/sc is more tuned vehicle from the factory. They just need to exactly determine the cause of minor starting and idling issues, obviously the engineering we own is more than capable of being reliable.

Just my .02

If it is back to stock, take it to another dealership. See what they have to say. It probably just needs an ECU update or something. Just don't say anything about the aftermarket parts you have ran.

ok guys here is the latest news on my car. i took it to another dealership and during me explaining what was wrong with my car the manager buts in and tells me that we wont work on my car cause of special surcumstances. i even told him that i would pay for it and forget about the warranty. he looked me strait in the eye and told me to leave. i was pretty pissed off. so i called a different dealership they told me that there was a memo on my car that said for nobody to work on it. that pissed me off even more. what am i suppose to do. i want to punch somebody

i would advise you to call GM directly and explain your problems to them and demand that they do something about it or a lawyer will be contacted. by law no one can void your warranty unless it has been proved that the part in question is the direct result of the vehicle malfunctioning

Go somewhere else besides GM. If you're willing to pay then see what someone else says.

JerryG: Don't give up... just head over to another dealership.

Calling GM Customer Service direct is also an option. Good luck there too.
