I was wondering if anyone knows what the top speed in each gear is for the SS 2.4L and maybe 2.0S/C?

For example: 1st-30MPH
2nd-55MPH
3rd-80MPH

I searched but didn't find anything

 

for the 2.0 S/C

Top Gear gives 26.883 MPH/1000 RPM and a top speed of 174.740 MPH at 6500 RPM

Engine speeds in top gear:-
30 MPH = 1116 RPM 40 MPH = 1488 RPM 50 MPH = 1860 RPM 60 MPH = 2232 RPM
70 MPH = 2604 RPM 80 MPH = 2976 RPM 90 MPH = 3348 RPM 100 MPH = 3720 RPM

Top Speed in 1 gear = 36.189 MPH
And changes into 2 gear at 3385 RPM dropping 3115 RPM
Top Speed in 2 gear = 69.499 MPH
And changes into 3 gear at 4358 RPM dropping 2142 RPM
Top Speed in 3 gear = 103.659 MPH
And changes into 4 gear at 4903 RPM dropping 1597 RPM
Top Speed in 4 gear = 137.436 MPH
And changes into 5 gear at 5112 RPM dropping 1388 RPM
Top Speed in 5 gear = 174.740 MPH

Personally I see
1st - 31
2nd - 64
3rd - 100
4th - around 130
5th - 151 with a lil room left

The wife just got a 2.4L SS so I'm kinda curious, but the roads are snowy here so I haven't been able to check for myself.

Tires I have on right now aren't rated anywhere near those 5th gear speeds so I don't try and O.D to much. Plus it takes way to much higway for me to try and top the car out in 5th gear.

 

I have the 2.4L SS with just a K&N drop-in.

2nd-55
3rd-85
4th-didn't chance it on I-75 in downtown Detroit
5th-same

According to jerryg's numbers...

...it looks like I have a few more mph's in each gear. I just shifted when the shift light came on. Do you guys wait till the rev limiter kicks in?

 

What mod's have you done? Just curious since you have about 5+mph more than me on each of your top speeds.

 

i have done injen intake, gm header exhaust and high flow cat

 

Honestly mods will not affect your gear ratios, the only thing that will affect it, will be a different tire size, maybe you're not both shifting at 6750rpm.

 

1 st gear 37mph
2nd 65mph
3rd 97mph
4th 134mph
5th 190mph (of course it wourld need some 500hp to pull that!)

This is for the 2.4L Cobalt SS. Tire diametre of 25.1" and axle ratio of 3.84:1

The US chevy website says we have 3.91s but I doubt it. It also says the S/C SS has 3.91s---that has 4.05s.

1st gear in a S/C SS would be lower because of the higher gear ratio and lower redline.

 

2.4L Auto top speeds
1st gear=36
2nd=72
3rd=120
4th=around 130 stock
fastest ive had her is around 123 across a bridge going into the city and around then she was running 4700rpms

 

2.0 SS/SC HERE
1st 46
2nd 77
3rd 117
4th 140
5th 168 est with running a vette
(I have a 7400 rpm redline)

 

damn 2.2 gearing

I've gotta get some headwork done and bump up that damn rev limiter

 

The F35 in the SS/SC top gear speeds should be as follows:

1st: 38
2nd: 73
3rd: 109
4th: 144
5th: 180+

Thats with a 7000 rpm redline.

The F40, which I'd love to get my hands on is as follows:

1st: 41
2nd: 70
3rd: 104
4th: 153
5th: 180+
6th: 200+

Again, thats also with a 7000 rpm redline in a 3.9L G6 GTP.

 

Sorry to bump this but what is the top speed in an 00-04 mustang gt?

 

My best in my 01 gt is around 175mph

 

what ive noticed on a 2.4 Auto is

1(L) - 40mph
2(L) - 65mph
3(I) - 80mph
4(I) - 120mph
4(D) - 135mph
