trade in 2.4 for supercharged
in the best terms. is it a good deal to trade in my 06 2.4 it only has 3k on it mint condition sept for a tiny paint chip on hood minor. nothing else only neons blue on i put on professionally. and its lazer blue. i always liked the sc/ss but ive herd theyve had lots of probs with the sc and oil probs and stuff. now do you think i can find an 06 for cheap and maybe get mine priced for trade in on a sc for a cheap price so i dont have to pay so much more extra. what do you think. let me know.

I looked up the Kelley blue book trade in value for my 06, 2.4 w/auto and premium sound - $13,550 in excellent condition with 17k miles. It's $14,675 with 3k miles. Less if a 5 speed.

Don't go into the dealership armed with only the Blue Book value or any other book value. They give a good starting guideline, but the ONLY way to know how much your car is worth is to get it appraised - and you can get it done for free! All it takes is a little time. Carmax will do it, and if there isn't a Carmax around, take your car to a used car dealer and ask them how much they will buy your car for. No trade, ask for a wholesale value. Do this at about three dealerships. Then you will truely know what your car is worth when you go to trade it in and you can avoid getting lowballed. Of course, to get the *most* money for it, you will have to retail it instead of trading it.
About buying a new car: If you just bought your 2.4 new and now you want to trade it, you are not going to get a good deal. Unless you put lots of money down when you bought it, chances are you're in the bucket (you owe more on your loan than your car is worth). If that's the case, just stick with the car. Dealerships have ways of making it sound like they'll *help* you in these cases, when in reality, they're just digging a bigger hole for you.
My $0.02.

Lets run down your options:
Sell the car yourself - call the bank or finance company and get a "pay-off" value of your loan. The kelly bluebook private party value is $15,900. If you owe much more than this, selling it yourself is not feasable. You will have to come out of pocket for the difference between what you sell it for and what you owe if you are "upside down."
Trade your car for a used ss/sc - a distinct possibility. Call the area dealers and see if they have a used one for sale.
Find a private party that would like to trade with you - unlikely, but worth a shot.
If you have "gap insurance" it would be really unfortunate if your car got stolen or was destroyed by some natural disaster. I'm not suggesting that you damage your own vehicle, but sometimes people forget to take their keys out and leave it parked in a bad neighborhood overnight with the engine running and the stereo on.

tanks guys
yeah i talked with a guy from halleen chevy near my north olmsted ohio which is 15 misn from my house. anywhos he said better off just to keep it. i like the car i was just thinking of what the options were. yeah i only owe about 13000 and i only have 3k on it and bought it on july 3. put 3000 down on it. i really like it and i got some money coming for the mods for it anywhos. but i think ill keep it. its a monster engine and if done right i can have some power and milage too. yeah i didnt think that trading it or selling it would be good. im better off keeping it. looking at full exhaust for it which is cheap and header downpipe and cai thats all running around 1k or less. well thanks much guys see ya.

Yeah, I agree w/ this too. Might as well make the best of what you have.
Most people want something bad enough to go out and make a trade like that. Don't do it!

you'll be happy with the results... if you put it all on at once, there will be a very noticeable difference... will really wake the car up...

I traded in my 2.2 for the SS/SC, havent regreted it a day since. I did take in the pooper though as far as negative equity is concerned.
So unless the SS/SC is the car you definately want, I would say stick with what you got!
Or, if you dont care about having a car that is worth a lot less then you are paying for it, then by all means make the trade.
The SMART thing to do though would be to wait. If I were you, I would at least wait until the 08's are out, because it would really suck if you traded in only to find out 6 months later that the 08's blow the 05 -07's out of the water.
(Not trying to say it will, because no one knows) but that would be really unfortunate.
So do what makes you happiest, and if you DO end up making the trade, GAP insurance FTW!!!

I traded my 06 2.4 for a 06 SS/SC... but I got the 0% financing on the SS/SC... so even with the negative equity rolled in... I'm paying the same per month.

think ill stick with the 2.4 it has the milage on the sc
the 2.4 has the milage over the 2.0 anyways and with some mods and the big engine i can do some good damage.

I mean, I could of waited for the 07's if I had wanted to, but I didnt. There was also no rumors of anything big for the 07's.
I only said wait because of all the rumors floating around regarding big changes for 08.
Otherwise, I am right there with you saying go for it if thats what you want!

I thought about this too. Getting rid of my 2.4 for the SS SC, but we got the 0% on our 2.4 and my payment would increase a lot. As far as negative equity goes, that would suck.
