Turbo 2.4L auto
Well I've decided to turbo my 2.4L cobalt. I was gonna buy one of the universal kits and see what I can do with that. I wanted to do supercharger, but looking at the numbers, it seemed like very few people could get the 2.4 over 300 WHP. The turbo kits is much cheaper also. What do you think about the universal kit? And when I install it, can the stock ECU be tuned nicely, or should it be replaced?
u can piece it together, you might save couples of bucks here and there, get zzp stage 1, if they dont have the stg 2 w/ air/air cooling system. and get an intercooler and do the piping.
6-7 psi is good, i began at 7psi car felt good
now im running 10 psi on the stock engine, no problems, tune could use a little more touch.
the only thing that went, was the clutch and crack turbo manifold..... (running stock cat-back, too much back pressure? lol)

yeah but back pressure can be really bad for it lol . if u upgrade anythign else at all id do exhaust first. id say 10 is still safe but another more than 11 is to much for stock internals. im no expert but iv seen to many base models blow there engines
you can get the tsudo for 250 shipped or so and its really nice deep tone. the megan drift spec is also nice and cheaper than most.

but they are louder than the sstc muffler lol, the only thing that is really restrictive in the exhaust is my huge oversize muffler lol
so sstc is better and hope still keeps it down on noise. btw no cat here (old zzp kit)
someone near me is changing exhaust so i might get the muffler part for $80

Yes and my car is alot quieter now. all I did was get the cti 2.5 inch over the axel kit to replace the 2.25 section at the rear axel and then cut the stock muffler and welded the dynomax super turbo muffler in its place. Has a nice tone and not raspy at all.
before they updated the website, there was a picture of the stage 1 where the other 2 present ones are.
the picture was the stage 1 kit installed on the car on a dyno.
i think there is vid of it on youtube, i could be wrong.
updated, found it!!!!

The auto would be nice on that kit, it isn't really laggy anyway but the constant load lets you stay in boost the whole pull, car will be quick.
On a properly tuned setup I would have no problem running 15 psi on a stock block. The ZZP kit is on an auto car, btw.

Nice! Hmm that would make a good budget setup with my LSJ IM and cooling
