Exclamation Uh Oh?

Hey everyone,

I have the Magnaflow exhaust catback for the 2.2L (2.25inch) on its way to me. The person I talked to at Magnaflow said either the 2.0LSS/SC or the 2.2LSS would fix my 2.4LSS. He recommended I go with the 2.2L. I said giddyup, and now I just read the new post by avro206 "straight from GM". I hope I understood it incorrectly because I think it said something along the lines of the 2.2 and 2.4 parts are NOT interchangeable...so my question is, did I screw up royally by getting this Magnaflow exhaust?

(ps I have a leased 2.4L, the stock exhaust is bolt on and so is the Magnaflow. The performance buff manager from Don Howsen Chevrolet said I can pull this off without messing with warranty)

the 2.4 looks to use the same cat back as the 2.0 s/c , which both are 2 1/4"

from what i understand

id jack the car up when you get the exhaust and do a trial fit , with out removing the stock exhaust , if things line up go for it , if they dont box it back up and send it back

The only way to be certain is to compare them side by side or try to install it. It seems that you are too late anyways to change the answer...

If it does not fit, Sell it and try to get some of your money back..

To clear any confusion.

The 2.4 SS and the 2.0 SS use the exact same "tuned exhaust". Larger piping, and large tip. The 2.2's use a normal exhaust, usually non-tip. Smaller tubing. But the actual mounts themselves for the exhaust are probably the same. I know you could use the 2.0 SS exhaust perfectly. But I'd say you should be set with the 2.2 too. But don't 100% quote me. Good luck. Certainly get pics and video/sound if you can after the install. I have a leased 2.4 SS too and I'm VERY curious...

Again, the 2.4 SS and 2.0 SS use the same exact "tuned" exhaust. The 2.2 is the smaller diameter exhaust. But they're probably all the same mounting points.

Corsa does have seperate part numbers for the exhaust on the 2.0, 2.2, and 2.4 so it seems to me that it is its own system.

No. Please, someone else besides just me verify the fact of the exhaust situation.

each motor is going to have different needs as far as the exhaust goes , and each company is gonna be different with what they produce

but each car will take to mods different from the next car

the guy at Magnaflow said that the Magnaflow performance catback for the SS/SC is 2 1/2 inch and the mangaflow performance catback for the 2.2L is 2 1/4inch. He highly recommended I go with the 2.2L setup, so of course i take his professional opinion and am still waiting for my shipment.
