it's a drive by wire setup on the TB, sounds like the computer is wigging out. Have the dealership look at it. You might need a re-flash or a replacement TB or ECU.

If it was drive by cable then your accelerator would be to blame most likely.

How many miles? Could be carbon built up in the TB. If not then you need to take it to the dealer.

Nope. Carbon builds up on the inside of the TB. Pull the piece that goes on the top of the TB and look inside and see if its all black,it should be gold.

If you don't know 110% DO NOT USE IT!!!!!!!!

I have a 2.4 Manual and that happens to me all the time. it'll just kinda idle at 1500 right until I'm basically stopped and then it'll just drop to normal. I've pretty much gotten used to it and just let it be. But if cleaning up the throttle body a little is all it take then i may have to look into that.

If you arent "TUNED" which i assume you arent .....Ill bet you its your Maf sensor, its pobably dirty as hell, my buddy had that problem on his coby and that did the trick .... pick up some cleaner from autozone unscrew the maf and gently clean it

If your MAF was malfunctioning it would go into limp home mode, the check engine light comes on, and if it is an auto it shifts hard as crap! If it is sticking then your having a issue with communication, whether the throttle position sensor is not communicating with the computer or crank sensor is off or the valve solenoids are faulty. You can clean the Maf with Maf sensor cleaner from NAPA, and the throttle body with the same or throttle cleaner. No how to, just take the intake off and spray away, but it back together, start engine. It will not solve your issue though. Been down this road. Mine was a bad exhaust cam solenoid, then had issue with the intake boot coming off and I was just pulling in straight air (so no air through the maf, and instant limp home mode) , take it to the dealer yo.....

Exclamation

To keep this thread alive:
Anyone know of a TSB or recall on this? This is a HUGE deal. I had it happen to me several times, and I was lucky it was uphill or flat. If you are going downhill and trying to stop then the engine decides to open the throttle blades, it will be much more dangerous. This is serious ****. I'm taking mine in next week.
By the way, cleaning throttle body or MAF is nice but has nothing to do with this issue. The only way the car will accel is to open the throttle, and dirt won't open it once it has closed.

Hmm I had one problem, after installing the GM Ipod hookup thingy I floored it on a onramp, I hit 40 and my car sputtered, and it scared the hell out of me, and now you mention this, and I just got home from a trip and my car did act a tad funny driving to school tonight, I think I did something, or my car is acting weird, thank god for warrentys.
