Question What brakes to buy??

Hi guys!

I willl need brakes in the spring so I'm on the market for that. I'm no expert in that so I would like to know what are the good products I can use at a good price.

If someone can point out a website or company, I would appreciate either.

I will need the pads and the rotor I think it,s called (the round thing where the brake pads push...)

I have a 2006 by the way.

Thanks for your help!

R1 concepts always has great prices, I have their slotted rotors and HPS pads. I like the setup but could use something with a little more bite

HPS pads is why there's no bite. Not bad repping Hawk pads, their DTC-70 race pads are awesome, and I hear their HP+ are good too. From my own experience, the HPS pads suck compared to stock, at least on a TC. I replaced them after a few months and threw them away.

Bottom line is if you have been happy with your brakes so far, stick with OEM.

OEM as in AC Delco pads? Or duralast pads from autozone?

That may be true for the SS/TC, but for the 2.4 the HPS's are much better than the oem pieces. However your probably right, for the amount of brakes I need HP+ is the way to go.

Only thing I don't like is the noise they make. I would like quieter ones for my next set. Mine might still get quieter as they wear out a little more though I hope.

I wouldn't go with stock pad on the rear for a TC. Apparently the compound is part of the reason rotors wear so unevenely when the sliders seize.

Look at the grooves I got in mine.

I just did powerstop pads all around. Half the price of EBC and I like them better.

I haven't had any noise issues with stock pads in the rear. Race pads is a different story but then at the track I don't care about noise ;-)

That looks aweful! Remember though that heeter_33 has a 2010 like I do. They finally fixed the rear brake issues in the 2010 model year. At least I've never had any grooving issues and haven't heard anyone with a 2010 complain about them...

Having a 2010 deff has it's perks. No porous block, upgraded injector seals. RPD standard. What else am I missing?

I saw power stop brake and rotors for 264$ on rockauto for front and rear. Is that a good price? THey are slotted rotors by the way. Will look at the other sites you proposed.

Thanks for the help so far! I really appreciate!!

I believe the sunroof was standard as well. Mine also had G85 but I believe that was formally still an option...

Not so much fading as the fact that they just don't have nearly the stopping power of the stock ferrodo/Brembo pads. I ran DTC-70 race pads in front and HPS pads in the rear one time at the track, and overheated my front brakes in a matter of a few laps because they had to do all the work ;-)

Yep, sunroof was standard and the USB on the radio. LSD was an option.

When I had my LE5, the best brake combo I had for normal driving was the R1 rotors and the Posi Quiet ceramic pads. Things bit harder than my brembos do now. A little squeaky in the morning when they were cold but was only for the first few brake presses. They also did not wear into my rotors at all.

If the made them for the brembo calipers I'd switch to them.

In what direction you have your slots going to?

I have the exact same setup as front brakes, rear are stock rotors with HPS.
happy so far.

EBC slotted rotors and redstuff pads here. Love them. Babied them until they started squeaking then went and did like 8 or so 70mph-20mph stops. They feel great to me and were $230 for the front combo

DTC-70, HP+, or Blue.
Best pads around for the front.

OE or hps for the rear.
