What gives?

I did something incredibly stupid tonight. I took my 2.4 out on the highway and opened it up. It wouldn't go over ~111 mph. What gives? Stock '07 manual 2.4, with the Four Seasons tires. (I am not condoning my idiocy, simply curious since I've been given two figures for the limiter in the 2.4, those being 129 and 140)

My cavalier is the same way cuts out at 110, you have to have the speed limiter removed

I recall Area47 posting the tune file for the 2.4, and "Limiter 1" said 129 mph, and "Limiter 2" said 140 mph. I picked up the car from the dealer less than two weeks ago, it had a thorough inspection... not even 10,000 miles yet.

Yeah somethings not right there. My old 2.4 SS would do 130+ stock.

I had a Cavalier before... all J-bodies are limited to 108, of that I'm sure. But my 2.4 is supposed to be able to get to 130 stock.

Maybe I'll ask my buddy in his '07 G5 GT if he could get over 110.

It felt like it had a lot left, but just sat there at 110 and was no longer accelerating, which is a contrast from the fuel cut at 110 in my Cavalier, where the car started to slow down by itself.

Odd. I've never maxed my car out, but I know that my HP Tuners tune now allows it to go 145mph.........not that i'll ever be stupid enough to go that fast in it.

Hm, I was just as stupid as you one day and got mine to ~120 MPH with no problem with a little more to go. I have an 07 SS/NA also, completely stock with the exception of a few appearance mods. Maybe it's my 3rd brake light cover that allows me to go that fast?

Mine went to 128 before. You should be hitting above that 110 mark easy.

What gives? Why do you need to go that fast on a public street? I don't care if it's a closed off run way or no one's around. Save anything in excess of 100 for the track.

Highway 4 on a weekend night about 3 miles out of Lethbridge? Might as well be a runway. The only person dying out there is me.

The limiter is 138ish mph.

As for the 111. Could of been wind.

I know when my car was lightly modified, and id be flooring it into a head wind, i couldnt hit more than 115~120.

perhaps they changed the governor in 2007? easiest thing to do is find someone around you with hpt and have them bump it to 140, which im sure you already know.

Im fully bolted and can only make it to about 125 full floored for a little over a mile. How are you guys going so fast? The fastest Ive gone in the cobalt is 134, and it took a bit to get there, she still had room to go faster, but not enough juice lol. I think you all are lying about your top stock speeds, these cars are kinda quick for NA 4s, but they dont really have the ***** to push it up in the middle hundreds, unless you are on a downhill 8 mile road.

When mine was bone stock I went to 122-124 but let off because I was a bit afraid.
