I am looking at the gm performance parts cold air intake and the k&N typhoon short ram intake... I always new short ram for turbos, but i hear that k&N intake is pretty badass.... soo what are ur guys thoughts on both of them and what should i look for..

2.2 intakes fit the 2.4 and work great. I have the AEM and love it a lot. Go with a dryflow filter, you wont regret it

Everyone is biased for whatever filter and induction system they have and that they "think" works.

If you have a 2.4L, only one manufacturer has tuned their filter and ram for max hp.... and thats K&N. see http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...rod=69-4517TTK for the product and to order or see http://www.kandn.com/dynocharts/69-4517.pdf for the dyno chart.

I bought the Typhoon, installed it, and am getting 30 MPG city / country according to the DIC when using cruise control.

Well yesterday I finally recieved my intake from K&N for when they used my 2.4 for one of their R&D cars for the intake and the workmanship looks real clean looks like the GM intake. I'll hopefully be putting it on this weekend. I had to take my AEM cai off because some crazy cop looked under my hood a while back and gave me a ticket for it not being carb exempt. Well either is the K&N but how many cops look under a hood so now I have the 2 intakes from both companies that used my car. Now I can check the gain out from an older dyno and then see what the difference is with the K&N

Injen works fine for me, all though it is not the best fitting intake I have ever seen. Then again I also have an Ion.

I hate dry flow filters. Injen intake is very good.

ummmm... you do know that you cannot see the AEM cai from just looking in the engine bay, right?

it uses the stock upper part of the system.. therefore appears to be stock, unless you take the wheel, and plastic shield off. i call BS!

Chevysalesman,
Are you talking about the AEM CAI for the 2.4 because no way is that intake hidden or uses the plastic stock pieces my old intake from AEM is no way hidden so If you were talking about my ticket for emissions there is NO B.S why would I have to B.S. Also if I could and when I do find the ticket I'll post it. btw now maybe the 2.0sc uses the stock piece maybe thats what you misread

I'm liking my K&N, especially now that the pcm is learning. They're all probably pretty good. I think an oiled filter will outflow a dryfilter, but will allow a little more dust into you're engine. Some say the oil will screw up your maf sensor, but I haven't had a problem on three cars now. If it does, pull it clean it with the spray and you should be good to go. If not K&N will pay to fix your car if the dealer denies to fix it under warranty.

I just got my GMPP air intake put on my 2.2 and I love it. Looks and sounds great and I got it from GMPartsDirect.com for $244 ( about $255 shipped ) since it is on special this month.

Not true. The GMPP has a more "closed" design, whereas with the K&N the filter is entirely exposed. Also, the GMPP filter is foam and isn't reuseable, whereas the K&N can be washed/cleaned, re-oiled and re-used.

My AEM CAI on my 2.4SS is entirely visible within the engine bay.....probally the most prominent piece in there actually. However, it will soon be on JRanger's 'balt and my 2.4SS will be rocking the new K&N Typhoon, as its actually designed for the 2.4SS.
