Question Where are the tcm/ecm located?

Hello everyone,

This is my first post. I've been a member for a couple months, I just figured out how to do it. I'm 49 yrs. young so I guess I'm just a little tech challenged.

I want to send my TCM and ECM off to Vector Motorsports for their re-program, but I first need to locate them on my 2.4l automatic. I think the ECM is under the dash by the steering wheel and the TCM is under the curved plastic cover to the right of the engine (the shiny electrical thingy with all the fins on it).

Am I right, or way off base? Thanks for your help.

Ok, I've removed 2 units from under the hood and shipped them off. I think the smooth rectangular box with 1 plug is the TCM and the one with 3 plugs with fins is the ECM.

I hope I'm right.

Shorty,

Vector returned my units untuned.

I have been talking to Chris, who said it was ok to ship my units in. I sent them my modules with a check for $444 which included next-day return shipping. They also returned my check. After speaking with Kirk, phone # (586) 453-9030, he said that they were not ready to sell the canned ECM/TCM tune for the 2.4 auto yet. He said that they had an auto Cobalt coming in today (4/10) and after they were satisfied with their testing on this car that they would offer the canned auto tunes for sale. I'll let everyone know when he gives me the OK to re-ship my modules. They dont have TCM cores yet, but they did offer a 1 day turn around.

We just arent confident in releasing something that isnt 100% tested. We've done enough 5 Speed 2.4L's where we could just do the ECM side of things (same as our normal tune) but that wouldnt be right and theres alot of potential in the transmission calibration as well. We'll let you know when everything is Kosher, shouldnt be long. Sorry for the mix up, I must have missed you were an auto; like I said the 5 speed stuff has been done for a long time
