wish i a had a stick
my god, feelin your pain too
plus, as auto we're missing out on that little extra power in the higher rpms near the redline
on top of which it's more fun to drive stick
its still fast though
hell my next car (next gen cobalt perhaps?) is definitely gonna be stick.

i ordered my car as an auto and like two days later i called the sales rep and was like wtf was i thinking can i still change it to manual?? and he said he would gm and see. It took an extra three months to build cause part of the transmission was on back order but it was so so so so so so so so so so worth the wait. I love my 5 speed. It mobs
Yeah, I love stick. Every car I've ever owned and ever will own will be a stick.
I know this sounds immature, but I love how w/ the stick you can keep it in a lower gear at a higher speed when your rolling to a stop......makes my exhaust burble and pop so much.....sounds so sick.

The tests of auto and stick cars (of course, same models) usually end with less than .5 seconds difference on the dragstrip -- that equates to about half a car length. Lots of arm and leg movement for bragging rights (miss a shift and you lose)

The base 2.2L 'Balt with GMPP Performance Parts can embarrass an unmodded SS/NA up to 60-70MPH. To keep that from happening SS/NA owners need to get all the GMPP parts too!

tune that car up. my 2.4 auto kicks ass...the shifting is amazing. if ur going to tune the tranny n such i recommend a tranny cooler, def will help out cooling the tranny down if and when you get on the car hard.i wud want to race a 2.4 stick with the same mods as me and see who would win...of course there are no 2.4's around by me..maybe like 2...haha
Read up on all the posts. All things considered and equal a tuned auto will beat 99% of the manuals. Only the occasional amazing driver that has insane shifting abilities will win. On the auto, every shift is the same, every launch is the same, and you never miss a shift.
I do sometimes wish I had a manual, they are more fun to drive, but.... don't knock the auto's I've pulled on away from an eclipse on the highway cuz he missed his shift and I was gone when the shiftplus hit my next gear instantly.
I don't drive a 5-speed b/c its faster or slower. I drive a 5-speed b/c you just have more overall control of your car. If your brakes go out on a 5-speed, you can thank god for engine braking. Plus, the one automatic car I did drive for a few weeks (wasn't my car....whooops) while I was fixing the RX-7 I used to have, I totalled. Fell asleep at the wheel coming home from work. The honest to god reason why.....asides from being tired from working 14 hours that day, it was b/c automatics put me to sleep. One foot action, no arm movements and only one gauge to watch (don't really need to eye the tach in an auto) made for a boring drive IMO. 5-speeds keep me awake on my morning commute and my long drive home.
I feel bad for you man. Should of really got a manual. It really is worth learning and just soo much more fun. When I drive my moms lexus sometimes, I cant stand it. You just sit there with one arm on the wheel and one arm on the shifter because you want to shift, lol. (at least for me) Sure you can make a auto just as a manual but you will never have the fun factor.
im stock too performance wise
also got trashed by a SS/SC the other night lol...as expected of course..but just havin fun
