Look at the quality of the image and how nothing "lines" up in front. This is nothing more than a photoshop.

From anyone other than Brenda Priddy I might believe that , I highly doubt Chris Doane would risk his credibilty by putting his name on a ps .

I was thinking that actually, Chris is a cool cat, but is it possible this was a photoshopped pic of his. Not that HE did it, but someone else did.

Agreed. I think with the Chevy grille it's pretty much assured that it's an Optra or Cobalt. They are all going to be the same car on the new Global Small Car platform (formerly called Delta II).

It looks "foreign" because all of them were designed at GMDAT in Korea.

I'm going to reserve judgement until I see better pictures, but I don't think it's that bad. Just different.

Look at the picture of the back end. It's got a rear "fog light" on the back left side, as required by European law.
then how come the disguised ones have the same lights but wiht michigan plates?

As said earlier , GM does test foreign market cars in the us . The G8's initial testing was done under the radar with mid eastern Chevy lumina's and AU holden commodores .

Heres what crusing around in a GM test fleet right now out in colorado . Holden HSV R8 and HSV Clubsport .

This Turbo test car is running around with them too Not sure what their testing with it though . Theirs few GXP Solstices as well , so mostly likely performance stuff for the LNF .

The Camaro's initial test car was a chopped down Chevy Lumina , dont always assume what u see is apparant as it may seem .

I'm not sure that's enough to just say "It's European", cause GM may want to offer it worldwide anyway. I'm reminded of the Pontiac Montana plate holders....

Like you said, testing for G8 - an American market car. GXP hardware is being tested in Holden bodies. Your argument actually supports the fact that this is the next Cobalt. The Holdens aren't just "like" the G8, they ARE the G8 with some mile bodywork differences.

I don't know why everyone's so worried, I'm sure the coupe will be sportier just like it is in the current generation.

The picture is real and not a chop. Chris said it looks bad because of the distance the shot was taken from and it was digitally enlarged. I have also learned that GME is watching over the development process of the new Cobalt. So expect handling as good as that of the Astra.

I'm banking on Aveo. Cars get larger as they get updated. They lines look more like Aveo, and it is a Korea car...what is an Aveo??? It is just a rebadged Suzuki Aerio.

edit: after seeing this (http://jalopnik.com/assets/resources...Cobalt-big.php) I take back what I said and think this could be the new Cobalt sedan. Bad move GM. If you want to remain a leader than do not follow a follower like Nissan.

I actually like the headlights and the "brake cooling intakes" on the lower front sides.

The rest of the car is pure crap. it looks like it has a D pillar for christ sake!!

What GM needs to do is turn up the bottom edge of the rear side windows. bring in the sides of the body a bit, add some more fender flare. Bring the sides of the hood up a little. AND GET RID OF THE 15" CHEVY BADGE!!! It should not be the same size as a Suburban. I can handle a 8" one though.

And I don't know about the roofline, something just doesn't look right. The grill isn't too bad, but still needs some work. I would like to see a recessed grill.
