Hey how is everyone doing today? Im excited to finally say that I will soon be starting my long-awaited Cobalt project. I finally have the money and a couple mechanic buddies, now I just need the help from the Cobaltss community.
Whenever this car is going to be worked on I will actually be live streaming the shop along with uploading the content to youtube, I will have more info if anyone is interested in that soon.
My goal is 450-500 hp.
Im looking to stay under $15,000
I want it to be "tough" ( Able to handle more than average abuse )
My buddy just put $25,000 in his STI and id love to smoke him
So Cobaltss, can you help me build my STI killer?
First thing is first. We are starting with the engine and trans.
I was debating a new engine completley but then read not too many fit. My mechaics are not the best fabricators.
I would love some information such as what I should replace in the engine. Once i start getting these parts the sooner i can get the engine pulled. Ill be asking quite a of silly questions as the mechanics i have are doing the work and not giving me the recommendations, i am looking for those here.
A parts list of engine upgrades would be a beautiful start
I will be uploading a video on the car and project again later today so check back for that!

Aside the short block. If you truly have money to play with. I can also sell you my whole turbo setup and stuff. I I laid down 513 at 27 psi. With new motor and such. Was going to go with a bigger turbo and stay around 650.
I appreciate that but im looking forward to buying all new items myself kind of as we go along. Ill keep you in mind though!
I was thinking on having ZZP build me a brand new LNF. Less work for everyone if i just had them do it. I was wondering should i go with one of ZZPs turbos or is there a better one i can get?
Ps..
Never got around to that video last night i will get to it!
You have an lsj I'm totally guessing. You said 2007 SS. Supercharged. That's an LSJ motor. Like I said. I got a short block. Doesn't take much to put the engine together and dropping it in. I only do it every other week...
Your not gonna run an lnf on an 07. Hit Bass_Waves up for his short block get a ported head with cams, then run a 6262 on ethanol, so you'll need id1000s at least. It's been a bit since I've looked at big turbo build lsjs
go with an lsj motor man. the guys on this thread are trying to help you. they are giving you solid advice, thats why you came here and to me it doesnt look like you are taking it. it would be very wise of you to take up bass waves on that block he has. buy a new turbo and go from there.

he won't like the price lol. I'm sure of it. Gotta pay to play.
well he wants to spend less then 15k lol. so i think he would be stupid to not buy yours lol
Yeah. For 15k I'd give him my car. A body with 38k miles. A lot of upgrades done. Spare parts and a crazy built short block. Along with clutch and all. I mite as well give it him and let him really experience a build lol.
I havnt taken any advice because the only advice I got was "buy my block"
I am well aware i have an LSJ motor seeing how it is supercharged haha. My intent was to completley remove everything and drop a brand new LNF in it.
Look im sure you really know your stuff and have a whole bunch of goodies and spare parts but honestly im looking for 100% new parts, warrantied, no hassle kind of stuff. I do appreciate you offering though..and im not trying to not take any advice just because im not interested in your block at the time..
I am about 1 month away from being ready to start..and as I said i appreciate your offer but im here looking for information on different things I can do, not information on who to buy the block from.
My question is..i know i have a LSJ.
Can I do a complete swap to a brand new LNF. If so, what is needed in order for that swap to work. Is it even possible to remove a LSJ and swap in an LNF? Yes these basic questions are helping create my build list which i really need to finish for my laborers to take a look at
Thank you..and really not trying to be hostile or ungrateful
one more time, it's pointless to swap an LNF into an LSJ. It's possible just pointless and expensive and limiting in the fuel delivery for power over 500whp.
Just take your car and 15k to zzp and say I want it faster here is 15k.
Okay I didnt know it was pointless to do so. Noone has said anything like i said except "buy my block" ha...thanks I guess I will just deal with ZZP...
I'll prolly just give you the answer you need to hear
YOU CAN SWAP A LNF IN
just make sure you swap in EVERY SINGLE WIRING HARNESS from the lnf donor into the LSJ. In the end you will have a LNF with a 07 title. In short words POINTLESS. Listen. 15k is a great number. We have done the research long ago. For goodness sakes I wrecked numerous LnF with low boost. I've also replaced a lot of lnf blocks because they like to play Houdini and make coolant disappear. I even parted out a LNF just recently. It's a garbage motor imho. You have a powerhouse motor. You just don't know it. Lnf have direct injection / High pressure fuel pump for their fueling. We have port injection. Lsj can simply swap out injectors. Throw on a big fuel pump. Let that motor ******* drink. With the LNf. Good luck.
Here is a old engine bay pic of my lsj turbo swapped.
There's more companies aside zzp. Look up ottperformance. I get a lot of parts from them.
I just saw he was in Illinois so I figured it would be a short trip for him to just say here is my car and monies, make it fast. Does OTTP do in house installs? I know they make parts in house, but I'm not sure if they do in house or where they're located actually.

I think Michigan. Not too sure. I know he done work on cars. Maybe talk to him ?
I mean if he brings the car to NJ I'd make it more than just fast lol. Down to getting it tuned properly to his liking.
