Harrop Swap onto Stock LSJ
Ok, just to simplify this down for people like me who get confused reading through 70 pages of conflicting Ideas, If I ordered a TVS blower from harrop, what would I need to do to my car if it was a Bone Stock 06 Cobalt SS/SC,
What Im looking for is a detailed list of associated mods that would need to be done for the swap to function properly without shooting a connecting rod out the oil pan. |
Im sure cooling mods...h/e, water meth, dual pass endplate
bigger injectors, cooling mods, exhaust mods...tvs just have more potenial over the m62
Personally I would go with full internals as well.
i dont think full internals will be necessary, from a pure torque point of view neither of the big turbo builds have fallen apart yet and they are near 400 horse. Also, the TVS is more adbiatic efficient so you wont have the same problems as the stock heaton does with high cylinder temps and detonation and all that. However, it would be recommended to do the basic cooling mods/ breathing mods. Injectors are necessary tho.
Why don't we wait until a tvs blower is bolted to a stock lsj and then see what it needs to run safely! Its only a 1 month away before we find out. Currently we don't know what it needs to run safely....nobody has one. Just wait i am sure a thread like this will be a sticky or something sooner or later. Only thing i would bank on for now would be 60lbs injectors, tune, and maybe exhaust. If this blower runs so efficient why the need for cooling mods to run the blower at the same psi or a little more?

its all speculation, just wait til the testers get theirs all set up and working, it does seem like putting an extra $1000 into the engine is probably the least you could do.

run it on stock injectors you will be fine
If it's a direct swap onto a stock LSJ without any sort of ECU reflash then you won't need to do anything. It will simply run more efficiently than the TVS but I don't know about any performance gains if any.... maybe some because of the efficiency differences. It's not until you start increasing boost that you will need to be changing injectors etc. The ability to tune is as necessary for this as much as any fuel or cooling upgrades would be but I guess that would go without saying.... i hope.

A direct swap onto a stock LSJ without any supporting hardware & recalibration will destroy your engine! The HTV1320 will deliver LOTS more puff ... more fuel will be mandatory. |
It really depends on what size pulley and how much boost it'll be running. Here are my suggestions:
1. Clutch 2. Cooling mods 3. Motor Mounts/Inserts 4. 60# injectors 5. Full exhaust 6. Intake 7. Proper Tune (Probably the most important part of the whole swap!) |
What about pistons and rods? I'm sure I'm like many other people who have already downloaded the GM build book that states you need forged pistons to exceed 300hp. While replacing the pistons I think it would beneficial to take the time to replace the rods too. As a precaution I'd do valve springs, and possibly valves themselves, too.

Please be clear on this ...

you guys will have your answer by the last week of march.
yea there are 3 testers with stock engines so wait for them...they'll lead u to the promise land..refer to lsjwannabe as moses
i think thats sig material lol
lol im up to like 3 sigs...im getting good at this
well my catback will be here tomorrow, all im waiting on is that damn intake now. The blowers should be to mike tomorrow as well.
my engines going in today and cat back is getting welded up tomorrow...waiting on intake and tb spacer...and waiting on tb from witt lol
why did you run the spacer? are you using it to tap it for meth?
