Hot IAT temps - lots greater than ambient
Hot IAT temps - lots greater than ambient
Alright, this is just a feeler for others who have logged their runs, but doing a couple runs i saw my IAT run up about 20-30 degrees above ambient IAT1 that is, IAT2 was still approx 30 degrees above that.
example:
ambient: 80 degrees or less
IAT1: 108 degrees
IAT2: 135 degrees
Doing a 2nd through 3rd gear run with 7200 rpm redline i saw 106-108 degree Fahrenheit IAT1, is this normal? Is anyone else seeing that kind of increase from engine heat and and possibly just supercharger heat conducting through to the sensor?
sidenote: (before the run IAT1 was 80 degrees respectively, i was not idling so they weren't already prematurely over 100 degrees)
The IAT1 sensor is mounted on top of the S/C correct? I may have also leaked some oil out of the S/C recently and i'm afraid my S/C may be burning up.
mods are in vbgarage, 2.9" pulley and lots of cooling, no meth. I feel this IAT1 problem is partly whats causing a bit of knock high up in the rpms. (that and MAF error which i'm correcting today)
I am thinking of fabricating something which diverts air into the small tomb which my CAI lies, i feel it still sucks more air out of the hole to the engine bay than cold air down below. Has anyone else done similar modifications, if so ideas are welcome short of taking out my headlight or foglight. Thanks

ok, thanks, i have been happy about my IAT2's i wouldn't want to fathom 220 degree IAT2, 4th gear will test the tides though, i have seen 150's at the end of 3rd on hotter days but i still have leak in the system which might be causing air bubbles to get in. Haven't even tried 4th gear runs yet since i've been seeing kr values from 6500 to redline.
Yesterday was the first day i realized the IAT1 temps though, mainly watched for IAT2's and kr before, i did however seal the inner fender area so dirt and **** wouldn't get possibly cutting off better cold air flow. Just wanted to see if anyone else had logged similar temps, with 20-30 degree IAT1 difference my IAT2 has the opportunity to be coming out much lower.
