Check to make sure that intake is even in their hands... We will leave that at that...

Honestly there is a reason why intakes cost as much as they do, the companies have dyno's and a lot of equipment to design and test these. There have been many times, cheap intakes are nothing more than tubing... Which is great for a low price, but when they make you LOOSE power... You will then realize, after you waste $$$.

Do it once, do it right.

Though some of those reputable brands are just as big of snake oil salesmen as the ebay guys, just that they have a better rep. I call it the FRAM mentality, brand with a great rep that sells rubbish products and just keep selling them.

Most of the times those companies just make what fits into the spot. the smart ones keep the MAF tube the same size and try to do what length tuning that they can. As long as the maf tube is kept the same diameter and is put in a spot that makes sense you wont lost any power, just might not gain any. Though even getting an AEM or Injen, you might not gain any power.

You come from a cavalier, what yousay is true is for a cavalier, as it does NOT have a MAF sensor... Good luck with your therory with a Cobalt...

Heck even some of the name brands cannot get the air flow right, and codes are thrown... There are a select few intake over the last 6 years that have been proven by OFRUM members, not vendors, on what works and what doesn't.

Yes and the ones proven not to work, change the maf tube diameter or put the maf in a bad spot (or otherwise cause turbulent flow near the maf).

Go for it, get an ebay intake and try it, you will toss it in the garbage, or atleast a ben franklin bill... Heck members have posted that they actually LOST HP by ebay intakes in the past.

Cavaliers CAN use a pipe, and call it good, Cobalts cannot. Cruzes only have 1 good intake, the K&N! Injen and all the other brands dont work.

The smart members ones know, by research and read results from other members. (So dont call it a salesmans speach, when it is coming from the lips of a consumer)

I got the high flow tube from zzp for 100$ and the drop in K&N filter.... also the Air box silencer removal mod.

What a differnce it did for me!

David6312008 Dec 23, 2011 09:53 PM

I built my own using 3 inch piping with a MAF adapter and a 3 inch rubber elbow connecting it to the intake and have gained 1 to 2 mpgs and the engine has much less lag up hills.

these parts cost what they do because vendors put a 100% mark up on what they pay.
