Launch control on ss/sc
Okay, i know about the N2MB 2step, but 2steps aren't allowed in my class. so i posted up a question in the tech seciton on the local track forum and got this as a response
can someone chime in here and lend some advice on how a "launch control" could be wired up like this using a line lock. and before you go explaining a line lock, i already know what it is hahah. i'm just asking how you would go about setting this all up.
i'l like to have a seperate on/off switch so i can drive it on the street but have it activated on the track. and i would like, when its switched on, to active the line lock when the clutch is pushed in
The 2008 rules say this for clutch cars...
You wire the rev limiter to a micro switch on the clutch pedal. When you let go of the clutch, the limiter switches off and frees up
the engine. A line lock switch can also be wired to the clutch pedal. Clutch down and loc is on.
To do it right, you'll need a power on/off switch to the limiter and to the line loc as you don't want either one working all the time.
You could also wire the limiter to a button on the shifter, or the steering wheel. Let go of the button when you let go of the clutch which is mechanically simpler then wiring to the clutch.
If you don't let go of the button and you launch with the limiter on...it will be like a stutter box and that is grounds for disqualification.
Clutch launched, stick shift vehicles may use line lock on starting line to prevent vehicle from rolling. Clutch launched, stick shift vehicles may use single stage rev limiter to control starting line RPM.
