LE5 swap into a LSJ car possible

Ok iv tuned a hand full of LE5s now and couldn't help to notice that there is so much more control with the LE5 pcm than the LSJs. And the thought to possible have VVT on a LSJ would be so sick.

Has any one ever tryed to tackle this task of putting a LE5 Pcm in a LSJ powered car?
Or just did a total LE5 Swap into a LSJ before?

Im aware of the complexity of this swap everything i have searched about and seen says it is possible. But only one thing could stop this from happening would be if the LE5 Pcm required both cam positioning sensors to run SFI.

The LE5 is inferior to the LSJ. Wouldn't that be defeating the purpose? Dudes have spent shitloads building up and modding their LSJ SC cars only to fall well short of the 400whp mark while dudes in Honda civics strap on blowers and pass that on pump gas without even touching their internals. For any serious power you're gonna need a turbo and a block that can take it. The LE5 block is weak.

My buddy is doing the opposite. He's using a LSJ block in a LE5 Sky but keeping the LE5 head and going turbo. I'm not sure why he's doing the whole LSJ/LE5 hybrid thing since the LSJ head has more potential. I'd be willing to bet that when everything is said and done, he put's the LSJ head back on and makes more power.

The LSJ is on there..

He's referring to the PCM of the LE5, not the engine.

Im building a 2.4 LSJ with a le5 block and crank.
12.1:1 compression Im hoping to beat the 400hp mark.

The le5 pcm has way more control than the LSJ..
And it would be Hella sick to have vvt on a LSJ.
Alto more power potential.

I can read. He also said, "Or just did a total LE5 Swap into a LSJ before?".

So I responded because the LE5 block is weak.

The LE5 block isn't gonna last and the LSJ head has more potential, so aside from saying that you have VVT, what's the point? The record holding engine is still an LSJ without VVT.

May as well stick an LSJ in an LE5 and delete the VVT altogether if the LE5 PCM is so much better. I never had any problems tuning my LSJ. How much more do you really need?

once u start adding cams and such the P12 computer just doesnt have the extra tables to compensate and fine tune things period. If you tune you would know why he was considering that.

True true..
I haven't had any trouble eather but its been a thought floating around in my head. If it wasnt for the fact i pit alot of time into this Zzp gen 2 block. 1/2 head studs. I opened up the oil galleys.. I even cut up my spare block to learn more about them

I don't consider myself a tuner by any means. I know enough not to screw anything up.. I'm a pretty good power with my 2.0 LSJ with taking every aspect of the tune to the extreme. Spent 6 hr on the dyno.lol Im not the fasted but it gets the job done.

I tune a few LE 5 recently and couldn't help to notice how much more control there was.

I've never tuned an LE5. My LSJ was my first. I didn't realize the LE5 had that much more control.

I spoke with ZZP a year ago about the 2.4 stroker Turbo Tim used that they have for sale. He said it would be safe at about 350whp. I wanted more power so I went the direction of the turbo.

Are you running a TVS?

I figured it was just wanted some opinions about it.

damastah 03-05-2013 08:14 PM

might be a dumb question... but what did you use to cut the engine block? the cut is sooo perfect..

was it like a giant industrial saw or something?

one of my friends does something like that for a living, but cuts metals 100times stronger, but he uses a laser.
