Solid lifters?

Who here has payed someone else to machine the solids for correct valve lash im getting a feeler for how much anyone has payed someone else to do the work?

Did the shop want hourly amounts to build the head? If so how many hours did they charge you?

I don't think you can have them machined. That's why people either get BLE solid lifters or they get shims.

there is one way. well two it will work. either the shim is welded to the head, or you use oil resistant epoxy on the bottom side of the lash adjuster.

why?

there is an oil hole that the shim can slide through. i was working on a cup design to fit around the base of the lash adjuster. well lets just say the friend that was going to do them could not find something hard enough to grind down the lifter base to fit the cup around. there is simply not enough room in the lifter bore for the cup to slide in and be happy

there's your answer.

welding an aluminum head? come on now warping would deff be a big issue here! opoxy would not hold up to the pounding that shim would endure it would end up breaking and you would have more problems then you started with!

we got off topic is there anyone out there that actually has done solid lifters besides myself???

a machine shop could weld on the head without even comin close to warpin it. you cant just keep weldin on it. you gotta weld a lil then stop and let it cool then do it again.

I don't see how welding shims to the head is a better option then solid lifters machined to fit correctly??

I'm with the OP

Solid lifters is a safer idea. Probably will cost roughly the same
