turbo or tvs

alright ive been doing research and i have all cooling mods and full exhaust for my m62. and i was wondering if you guys that went tvs were happy with it. or should i just sell it all and go turbo. not looking for huge dyno numbers but would like to run 12s on street tires.

TVS. You'll just start making stupid power for a FWD by turning up the boost on a good size turbo. The TVS makes excellent power and has a great powerband. Will definitely get you in the 12's.

if you already have all boltons and such, just go tvs. there is alot of potential with them

Personally I would go turbo because I would want more than what the TVS puts out though if all you want is hitting a 12 it should do it.

yeah i really want to do the tvs. it just seems simpler and i love being different. and yes i have nitto 555's (235-40-18) with ottp rotated mounts and i can pull 2.0s so its the back half where i need to pick up the speed. i really want to do a 12.7 because that will be faster then my buddys srt8 jeep

oh and cant do e85. no local pumps. and i dont want to use meth.

normally i'd agree with you. But the tvs does have good potential to put out good power. It just takes a lot more work than what most people are willing to do. But if you remember at the last CED meet, area and rob went toe-to-toe against a wrx, and area was the one that came out on top in that race. Then again, look at all the **** he did.

IDK, it just depends what you want. A quick DD sure, but if you want 450-500whp then turbo.

Pretty quick, a little under 8secs. I posted a vid in some thread. That was with 418whp?

agreed.I mean, if you're looking for more potential hp, then a turbo will get you there without a lot of issues. But to get a tvs to where area had his, well, you have to get creative.

If your not using E85, the TVS really isn't worth it. I hate to say it, and I do have one, but when it was on pump gas, it was a turd. Just isn't worth it.

It is the same tune but the boost is down like a psi or 2 I just haven't had time to get it back to the right spot and my new ic threw it off a little so it needs a little tunning I think I have a little knock

Awesome Vid, between Nick (BYT) tuning and the TTR Intake manifold that car is a rocket!

Personal preference really. Without E or meth, you will be struggling to even break 300. If all you want is 12s from a DD, the M62 will get it done. Few people on here have. But you can't expect to just line the car up and shift it down the track and end up with a 12 sec slip easily.

To really get power out of TVS, you need to drop pulley sizes, run E, and know how to take advantage with tune.

id recomend meth as long as you have a tuner who knows how to work with it, once installed and tuned you fill up the tank as often as you mat the gas.

I plan on going TVS, but i'm also running meth. 350 whp is my goal

tvs is also cheaper than a turbo kit, which is why im leaning towards it.
