Is the C5 corvette fast?

lol spending 5k on buying/installing mods to be just as fast as a z06 doesnt make much sense seeing how you can get a z06 for the same or cheaper price. i would just wait for a better deal on a Z06 model if that bumper is cracked. i mean i waited 4-5 months until mine magically appeared online. (preferably 03-04 since thats its best year rated at 405 hp)updated FE4 suspension, larger wheels and tires, revised gearing ratios, and functional brake cooling ducts. The Z06 is 38 pounds lighter than a standard C5 hardtop thanks to weight-saving measures such as a titanium exhaust, thinner glass, lighter wheel, non-EMT tires, reduced sound proofing, fixed rear radio aerial, and a lighter battery. Starting with the 2002 model year, the LS6 engine output was increased to 405 hp due to a larger CFM air intake, stiffer valve springs, lighter sodium filled valves and more aggressive camshaft lift and timing. if you find an 04 z16 package it comes with a carbon fiber hood which saves another 10 pounds and improved handling. 0-60 in 3.9 and quarter/mile at 12.4
the z06 looks way better too concerning the back window and trunk. and the exhaust sounds great. just need headers and mid pipe which is anywhere from 1200-1800 together. i just feel like your going to spending more money at the end of the day on the base model to catch up or get past the Z06. P.S. i would stay away from 02 models because they are known to have there value springs **** up unless of course you mod them when putting on a new head. which is close to 2k in costs. 03-04 is the way to go.

ls3 high flow oil pump -> $65
double roller chain -> 100
new springs -> $180
new cam -> $400ish depending on what you're looking for

$1300 and you have yourself an ls6

or you start with this
https://zzperformance.com/lsx/superc...ercharger.html
get a set of rectangle to cathedral port adapters, a used ctsv intercooler lid, sort out the belt drive, and add in a heat exchanger and pump. for around $2k-$2500 you have boost

True story. A simple H/C swap is no where near 5K. Speaking from experience here too. I've done multiple LSx setups over the years - Cam, H/C, H/C FAST intake, built 384 etc. etc.
