Canada $2800 for a body kit..

Ok, so I'm looking for a body kit, especially the Grip tuning body kit...I asked a body shop to send me a quote for it and here's the details:

Body kit : $1299
Shipping to the body shop : $104
Installation : $800
Paint : $400
Taxes : $156,18

Total : $2759,18

I don't think it's a fair price, especially about the installation...I know it'll need some mods but...

I need your opinions about it guys..

Haven't lower the car yet...Another thing I want to do...I don't want to install it myself, it's gonna be shitty as hell (no patience at all...)...I could order it from the USA but the shipping charges will be ******* high, not to talk about duty fees...

Just get other qoutes. Look at buying the kit yourself directly from Grip and bringing it to the body shop. That way the shop isn't trying to mark up the kit on you. That's how I did my RKSport kit.

I manage a collision center and to be quite honest with you, that is cheap for that amount of work. Those body kits take a lot of work to look right and some of them are so poorly made that they just do not fit at all. The quote that you were given is super cheap so expect cheap work when it is done. $400 is very little money to paint the front and rear bumpers and both sideskirts. That is a MAACO price. I am not arguing that it is a lot of money, it is. But for the work described, you are going to get a BS job.

If its just replacing the front and rear bumpers it shouldn't be that hard...maybe you could look into doing that yourself and having the side skirts put on at the shop?

I don't care what the name of the shop is. The price of the work tells me what kind of work they are going to do. Whatever you do, don't buy a body kit and hang it on your cr unpainted. Besides, to do the job correctly they are going to have to fit the parts to the car first, then take them off, then paint them and reassemble it.

That's not nearly enough time ot do the job right. All they are going to do for that price and timeframe is spray it with whatever cheap materials they have bolt the stuff up there and kick you out the door. When you complain about how the bodykit doesn't fit they are just going to tell you that none of them fit and send you on your way with a poor product. It isn't going to look like the computer generated airbrushed picture you have been dreaming of. Sorry.

That body kit is made out of urethane, not fiberglass..I wouldn't buy a body kit made out of fiberglass, there's a lot of snow banks up North..

you should fit it and install it yourself if you know what your doing, or have a experienced friend help you, then take it to a body shop and have them prep and paint it

Do you think that body kit would fit in my Balt cuz I'll have to go pick it up in the US...I don't want to pay expensive shipping charges and duty on that...

Actually, they sell that kit as well and according to me, it looks good...But if I order from them, it's gonna cost me maybe $400 worth of shipping charges, not to talk about Canadian duty...That's why I would like to go South of the border, to save some money..
