thanks! I have a SC'd black Cobalt. Im looking to buy an after market hood and paint it white. then painting the roof and rear white. Ill do some custom black on the hood. I wanna do a custom paint job on the car and hood. I bascially wanna draw a line right below the hood on the fender and paint from that line up white.

nothing. I searched for threads dedicated for Hoods and didn't have the luck I wanted. Every time theres a thread that is "official" people tend to participate more and it normally is stickied

That hood looks stupid. And to the person with the "invader" hood. Is your hood shut in that picture or does the hood just fit that poorly?

If your asking me, it doesn't fit properly unless you take off the hydrolic hinge. (or whatever it's called.)

Since the carbon fiber weighs less, the hinge is used to having a heavier weight to hold. Soo, it makes it stick up more on that side from the hinge, but you can easily take the thing off. 5 minutes, tops.

Ahhhhh the voice of maturity. He made that hood himself, somethng I doubt you could do. As for the invader hood its due to a few things namely its carbon fiber so its lite and it flexes more then the steel hood does and the strut support that holds the hood open is too stron and long for the carbon hoods. Thats why I went and found one that works cause I didn't want that gap.

I've been wanting a CF hood for a while now, but I'm afraid that I'll have tons of fitment issues. I've always heard they will fit, but not perfectly... Can anyone confirm/deny this?

Jack, don't you have an aftermaket hood? If so, which one??

No fitment issues at all with my CF hood BUT you NEED to get a weeker hood strut or you'll have the gap like in the above pics of the invader hood.

Yes I have the SS CF hood I got from Tyler, I'll try to get a recent pic up now that it's done.

RK Sport is usually your best bet. From everything I've seen over the years all the way back into my JBO days, RK Sport hoods fit the best regardless if they're fiberglass or c/f. Sometimes (especially w/ the j-bodies) RK hoods fit better than stock...

Where'd you get a weaker strut?

Advance Auto parts. If your LUCKY you can find a place that still has the books for them. The books tell you compressed and extended length and the amount of force they exert. Unfortunetly after hitting 10 different places I gave up and just started to compair them and found a smaller weeker one that doesn't push up on the closed hood. I'll go take some pics if you like.

I love TSAPerformance's hood with the louvers...looks very hot rod/retro. Good job!

TSA--I used to have that same SS-style hood... I loved the thing. Needed cash one week and sold it and my CF trunk though. Kicking myself in the ass for it ever since. (well, except that CF damaged to easily for my daily communting and weekend canyon runs)
