05 Cluster vs 06+ Cluster

Just curious since if you flash your 05 balt with an 06+ balt the fuel will go in opposite directions. Is the same true about speedo clusters between the 2?

Any info on this will help me greatly. thx

Why wouldnt you just buy it and then if its wrong, just switch the wires. Im assuming that gauge is DC?

so whats the fix for this, i got my car back from the shop a while back and i have this issue, the guy who owns the shop is also a chevy technichian. and i hate having my fuel guage reading backwards. and if you could define flashing an 05 with and 06 balt, you mean flashing an 06 tune onto an 05? if so i can copy all my data from my current tune back to my base tune and reflash it on my car. i was unaware that there were any os differences between the 2 years.

because the op said if you flash an 05 with an 06 balt your fuel guage will go backwards...............come to think of it though there is broken pieces in my dash and rattles that weren't there before, i wonder if my old "mechanic" decided to swap his cluster for mine, would explain a few mysteries.

yup, now imma have to wait till my car arrives to find out, as soon as it gets here i will flash an 05 os on there, if that doesn't fix it, then it confirms my and your suspicions that he swapped the cluster.

i came up with it because it is possible that the instrument panels have swapped voltages for the gas gauge....and i dont feel like messing with it.

no there is a difference between how the 05s and 06s read the gas gauge. And it appears to be swapped voltages.

This MEANS that +/- on the gauge would be different on the clusters when it READS the gas since the 06+ tune could command an opposite polarity reading.

got me?

im not tuning for an 06 unless i get an 06 cluster and rather avoid hassles through research.

ok the 05 cluster has the chimes built in to the cluster.... thats how u can tell.

its also why 06+ need to use an aftermarket chime when they replace their head unit

might be 07 that loses chimes... but my chimes are in the cluster

for comparison my boost guage is stock and is the same brightness as the cluster.... im trying to make everything as bright as my innovate g3 gauge

replaced pic with a real camera shot

honestly looks WAY hotter & brighter in RL but this is close
